Oh and I don't plan on take ng my Maverick on many long trips... We have a Passat TDI. For those trips... Avg 50+mpg out of a 2012... It's much more comfortable anyway.... But who knows with gas being a dollar less I may change my mind.

After getting 45 and 41 mpg in city driving, a recent trip to corpus cristi at 75 mph yielded 29 mpg.

I expected at least 35. Anyone else see something similar?
I drove from San Antonio to Port Isabel and got 25 mpg in my EcoBoost w/4k tow. I set the cruise @ 75 mph. 70 is my sweet spot though.

Recently I took mine on a 1500 mile trip on the highway, averaging around 75 mph on the highway, and it returned 33 mpg, just as Ford promised. Given that it gets a lifetime average of just around 40 miles per gallon, I have no complaints!

Hey it is possible to get better mag. But like everyone said. It has alot to do with driving habits and conditions. I live in las vegas. I took a trip to Los Angeles. To Los Angeles I did like 22/26 I was on eco mode. From Los Angeles to vegas I was at 32/35. Doing 75/85 mph

I went from Clearwater to Miami @ 82mph, got 31.8 mpg, wind blowing south. Return trip @ 82mph, got 28.6 against the wind.
I average about 2000 miles a month. With the 1st 1000 miles in I’m averaging between 40-41mpgs. Most of my commute is in rural areas where the speed limit is between 55-65 mph. I think under 70 is the sweet spot.

At those speeds, 29 is fine. But, to sidebar for a moment, I have to laugh at some of the people saying, "just go 60". Depending on what region you live in, going 60 could pose serious risk to yourself and those around you, even in the number 4+ lanes. If you're going 60 in lanes > 3, that should be criminally negligent imo.
Why are you in such a hurry! Still baffles me that people are in such a hurry to reach their destination, so they can get out of their $50-70K vehicle. 🤔

So OP starts a thread bitching about MPG on the hybrid that does better with in town driving. People comment asking more questions and info to OP. OP never responds in the thread again after initial post. GTFO.

Sometimes the forum is like this, but we can't help ourselves.

Was it windy? Wind plays a big role whether hybrid or not.
The only time I’ve gotten around 30mpg was when in Sport mode in my hybrid.

I don’t cruise at 75mph though.

To introduce some levity into the situation...

Recent drive down the local mountain. Guess all the downhill charging and regenerative braking works magic...

Ford Maverick 150 miles @ 75 mph, 29 mpg. No bueno. IMG_7772

Averaging 48mpg over the past 3K+ miles. 75% local/25% 65-70mph fwy. Key is always in ECO mode, and "gaming" the Mav by feathering throttle to stay in/reengage electric. Worst mileage was on 250 mile all freeway trip, about 33mpg--but still more than double our 14mpg Tahoe. Gas spending now less than 1/3 since acquiring the Mav Hybrid.

The thing I've noticed is that if the EPA highway rating is based on something closer to 60mph, then I've had multiple vehicles hit their EPA estimate while running back-and-forth along I-40 over the years across Tennessee, from relatively flat west TN up to the Cumberland Plateau around Nashville to the Smokies around Knoxville. My '98 Suburban got about 15 mpg, my '98 Camry sticks around 30 mpg and our '12 Highlander Limited gets around 21 or 22 mpg. Running 75mph on cruise control.

The only impact I have ever noticed is that I was able to get my '06 Ridgeline to eek up towards 21mpg from 19 if I dropped the speed from 75 to 70-72. Others reported getting closer to 22 if they got down in the 60-65 mph range...but the Ridgeline was a aerodynamic brick.

I dunno...maybe my math was off, but I've never found much MPG difference between the number on the sticker and running down the interstate at 75.

My 2008 Ranger gets about 18...I'll be happy with 29!
