Hey there, @Mite-o-Dan. You keep saying "I said this a month ago and no one believed me!"

But what you actually said a month ago was that as of January 28 "All current and NON-SCHEDULED hybrid orders will not be fulfilled for the 2022 model year."

A lot of people didn't believe that and ... guess what? ... it turned out not to be true.

It's kind of like you predicted a total eclipse would happen in January, and now it turns out a partial eclipse will happen in June. You can say "See, I told you there was going to be an eclipse!" but ... close, but no cigar.
@Mite-o-Dan just got owned.

I was promised a vehicle in September
You were NOT promised a vehicle in September. Whoever stated that was lying as the OKTB for a Hybrid wasn't done until last week of November.

Email from Ford with the FITS accessories a truck with my name on it is waiting for me
NO it wasn't waiting for you as it would be delivered sometime after you paid for and picked up your Hybrid Maverick.

The allocation system seems like a mystery, but it does have a purpose, especially for stock orders, which was previously the main way people bought cars.

Imagine Ford introduces something popular like an Econoline Raptor (I’m making this up) and everyone wants it. A small dealer in rural Montana might say “I’ll order them all, on spec that I will sell them all”. This would be a problem for other areas, and all the other dealers would howl and cry foul.

So the allocation system determines who gets how many of a popular car. The only way to do that is based on past performance, aka order volumes. Retail orders were such a small percentage of the total, that there was little impact. Note allocations could be adjusted as dealers sold more or less vehicles.

The real problem is this method breaks down when most of all orders are retail, especially for reservation type orders. People reserve directly to Ford, which assigns the order to a dealer based on geography, and unfortunately it doesn’t necessarily match the allocations. Dealers who discount retail orders to build sales also break the allocation system.

Allocations is a system that no longer works in a modern direct order world. The most appropriate short term fix it is to build on line retail orders based on date received, regardless of local dealer allocations. Of course some on line dealers may discount and get huge retail order volumes, which again leaves the other dealers howling again.

The only other solution is a direct manufacturer sales model, like Tesla. But that too has its problems since there are few place to fix them.

It’s a real mess with no obvious solution. But I do think for sell outs like the Maverick, the best solution is to just build to meet customer retail orders, by date of order. Ford is essentially trying to do that now, but even though most MY22 retail orders will get built, the allocation system is impacting when you’ll get it in the MY22 year build. Smaller dealers will get their orders, but later than larger dealers.

This.
With rationing come winners and losers. It's not random, profitable wins. The more incompetent things look, the more plausible deniability hangs there. My late July XL is decontented to floor mats ,hitch thing, and inside inverter for glaring example. Not scheduled.
My August 23rd XLT Hybrid order was decontented to Co-Pilot360 + Rear Sliding Window + 110V/400W Outlet in Cab early in September and was scheduled on September 16th.

I took off everything that I could get aftermarket: Splash Guards, Bed Mat (no longer needed), Hard Drop-in Bedliner, Wheel Lock Nuts, All Weather Floor Mats

Your order still has Floor Mats which have been on/off the constrained list a few times. I took those off my order and purchased them from Ford Parts aftermarket. Why are those still on your order?

You also did not state who your dealer is as that really comes in play with allocations. I picked a mid-sized dealer in the DFW area and not one of those mega online dealers (Long McArthur, Granger) because I felt that ordering from those would have the result in my truck being delayed for a very long time which turned out to be true for those who ordered from them.

I learned on this site to also avoid small dealers for much the same reasons: little or no allocations.

I have a 9/17 order in for a Hybrid XLT Lux with CP360. I am not interested in removing either of those, but I am indifferent to the SIBL vs DIBL. Would it be worthwhile to have my dealer change my Lux package to the late version with DIBL?? Or would I just be putting myself later in line for no particularly good reason?

Totally agree about how we can only vaguely infer what it going on based on the membership of this forum. But then I go down the rabbit hole of guessing if Ford cut off hybrid sales when those sales reached ~40% of their intended total production for the model year, or if they did not catch it in time. Cutting off sales in November for hybrid but not cutting EcoBoost until January may be somewhat reflective of what they were seeing in type ordered (hybrid versus EcoBoost). All a guess of course.
Makes sense. It's a reasonable assumption they cut the orders off when they reached what they thought was the limit of what they could build. However, what appears to have happened afterwards is the chip supply situation got worse. So Ford now knows they can't build them all.

Is there any possibility it's also based on deposits? I know the deposit means nothing to Ford but dealers are their agents and it seems more likely to me that if you walk into a dealer and order without a deposit you'd be less likely to get product than someone who plunked down some cash. I keep reading about guys who say they'll just walk away or next time they'll put in a bunch of orders because they don't have to put down any cash. So aren't dealers going to be stuck with possibly lower margin trims if there's all these orders that arrive but are never claimed?

I put down 1k (about $785USD) on my Jan order and am told I now have a VIN. However I'm in Canada and we have to put a deposit and it's illegal for dealers to sell over MSRP

More bad news today: Ford delivering 300 Mavericks to Brazil within 60 days (Lariat FX4 EB). The MAV sold out in 24 hours there. All made in the Hermosillo, MX plant. I guess the "No production" weeks are for Brazil orders only ;) Looks like a colossal underestimation by Ford. Unless they start producing Mav's in more than one plant, they will never catch up to demand/orders. Hopefully lots of competition is on the way ;)

https://fordauthority.com/2022/02/2...24 hours as well, the automaker has announced.

A little gem that I saw over on Reddit related to this. Someone screenshotted the "Questions and Answers" that went along with this memo. Must have been page 2 or 3 of the memo. One of the gems in there was the answer to this question: "How many Maverick hybrids did you plan to produce?"...
Can you link to the reddit thread? I went and looked around there but couldn't find it...
