Evidently the system doesn’t work or there wouldn’t be people that have been waiting 9 months getting passed over for their build by someone who just ordered two weeks ago. Regardless of where the dealer is located if ford accepts, validates, and approves the order it should be put into line….. not oh well second or third year of production for you because you didn’t drive to a bigger city and chose to purchase locally. That’s not everyone gets a trophy, that’s just alienating your customers that you hoped to conquest from another brand.

Now if ford would deny an order at a smaller local ford store that’s different. But don’t tell me I’m in the system and then not build me because the “larger market” takes precedence. Markets shift, population density changes.
Look, the cross section of people waiting here is VERY small compared to actual orders. All it takes is a look at the order reporting here, what is it? 4,000 orders reported? Seriously, the Hermosillo plant makes almost double that in one month. The reality is that people who have been waiting for orders from their small low allocation dealers come here to vent and complain and it makes them seem like they are a larger cross section of Maverick buyers when in reality they are a very very small representation of Maverick buyers and most people are getting their vehicles within a reasonable amount of time. I completely agree with their allocation system as it's necessary for them to be successful. If you didn't research the ordering process and everything that is involved with it before placing your order then maybe that's on you and not Ford. Maybe your dealer should have told you that they get very little allocation.

Just got off the phone with the dealership I ordered from and I asked them what could hold up my order. They said spray in bedliner, bed covers, and lux packages held up orders the most. I would up removing 2k worth of accessories just to get my truck (hopefully) a little faster
I get ya but would you want those $2k options if it took another 4 months? I only removed what I could get aftermarket. For me it’s only now the 360 holding it up. I’ll wait

The allocation is design to allocate more stock units to dealers that perform well. It’s the only control Ford has over dealers, hence the threat to reduce allocation to dealers charging ADMs on the Lightning order. It’s a game that works in normal times because there has to be some way to determine who gets stock units and dealers like games!

But customer orders have priority, and Ford will eventually adjust allocations to ensure customer orders are met.

In the unusual case where Maverick is fully sold out to customer orders, the allocation game becomes moot and Ford will simply match allocations to confirmed customer retail orders. There is no way they will ship unsold units to one place whilst leaving so many unfulfilled confirmed customer orders hanging elsewhere.

if you have an order confirmed by Ford, you’ll likely get it before the end of the 22MY build.

So what I'm seeing .. considering Ford had 100k orders/reservations... At least 30k aren't getting their order if production rates can't get bumped up.
Awhile back I read 100k reservations which Ford thought would be 30% ordered. Important to know the true numbers now that orders are closed

That‘s where Ford‘s forecasting missed the mark… that 30% (30k units) quickly grew to 70k, which is close to production capacity, so they had to cut off new orders.

Maverick turned out to be an unexpected new product hit.

Do do, Do do, Do do, screach "You've just entered 'The Twilight Zone'" anything you see or hear is from another dimension of time-space continuum a quark, so to speak or double speak, where Ford has ephoniously "Screwed the Pooch" on allowing the first of us that ordered to be continually disappointed......

I'm about to buy a Tacoma and live with the crummy gas mileage.
With the Tacoma, I'd be more concerned about the wonky auto trans which has been buggy since 2016, unless it's been fixed or you buy an manual.

LOL 😊😊😊
If it pushes into 2024, I'll be buying something else.
I would think that by then there's going to be other options from other manufacturers.

Literally just cancelled my order a couple days ago as I just received my 2022 Tacoma. Missing the tech features I was excited about in the Maverick, but oh well. This will keep me happy for the next several years. I’ll try ford again then.
How's the auto trans... Does it "search" for the correct gear ever as has been mentioned in many reviews for late model Tacomas?

I just spoke with Ford marketing the other day and the guy said they were recently have problems with the back seat safety belts which was slowing production, but now it's fixed so production should increase.

Put it this way with such a low number of orders with bed mats getting scheduled you might consider dropping the mat from you order and just order the mat from the dealership. Just an idea.
You should be able to get the mat FREE with your Ford Pass Rewards points after delivery of your truck.

So how many orders does Ford really need to produce in 2022?

@projectvortex says that Ford needs to build 10-12,000 Mavericks per month to fill all the orders that exist.

@BradG says the number is a secret, but with it we could easily calculate that thousands of trucks won't get built.

You have to know the total number of orders to make either of those calculations, right?

So come on guys, spill the beans. Tell us what the number is so we can all do the math.

Thanks in advance...
BTW do you still have those numbers for sale, I know a guy who knows a guy that needs a 42 :giggle:

100%. I want it exactly as I ordered it.. or I don't want it at all. If it comes in 6 months, great. 8, great. Gets pushed to 23 and comes in 14 months.. fine. But it's going to be to my specs exactly or I will not buy it.
My wife and I can certainly agree with your commitment to your choice. Having retired from GM and always being able to purchase GM products with a employee discount, we have always settled for less and purchased more economical vehicles due to raising a family and all. With the Maverick both my wife and I decided to buy a vehicle that has ALL of the features that we’ve always wanted with a price that is affordable. Probably our last new vehicle so we wanted exactly what need and want. My wife gets impatient at times but realizes the wait will be worth it!

For the most part, the people "waiting 9 months" are hybrid orders. And 100% of the people that are getting build dates after only waiting 2 weeks are EB orders. Order a vehicle Ford has more of, you get your order sooner.
