If you reordered your Maverick TODAY… what trim are you picking?

XLT. The Lariat made sense in the gen 1 models with its sync 3 upgrade and all of its goodies. But between the gen 1.5 refresh giving all trims sync 4 and the de-contenting, the Lariat is no longer worth the money over a XLT lux unless you really want to sweat with the unventilated leather seats. The XLT lux gets the lumbar support, heated seats, heated steering wheel, and heated mirrors, and the Lariat windshield can be added later for far cheaper then the trim level.

For the price Ford really needs to elevate the lariat Mav to be on par with other Lariats. 10 way seats with ventilation would be a good start.

Love my Lariat seats, never found them to be anything but perfection.

XL mainly because the price bumps for other trim levels are totally not worth it. From XL to XLT it's mainly just rims, that don't do anything better than the XL rims. All trim levels are basically the same exact pickup, but with different decorations.

Note that I mentioned FX4 (which means Ecoboost), so I'm not talking about anything with a better trans, bigger motor, or HD axles. Same trans, same size motor, same axles.

I also have no problem with Connected Touch Radio, so I don't agree with anything you said.

Even the EB is not the same engine on 25 and up. They now have dual injection. Will keep the engine cleaner. HD axles are accross all models. But you're right on 1 count. You have that same trans. Good luck with that after 100k.

Disclaimer...I don't own a Maverick yet, but I will order the hybrid lariat + 4k tow.
I want the Activex seats, 360 camera, B&O sound with HD radio.
What I don't want is BAP, moonroof, power rear window.
And make it carbonized grey.

I never said it was the same engine. I've walnut blasted plenty if GDI intake valves, and it's not a problem for me. I've not had to do it on any Ford 2.0 liter before 200K.

Oh, and SO many 8F35s failing around 100K... There are no new HD CV axles for the Ecoboost orher than those on the Tremor.

You do realize that your replies have nothing to do with what we're talking about here, right? What is it exactly you're trying to accomplish? Are you on a mission to single-handedly convert all satisfied EB owners to hybrid?

I guess I'd better sell my Mav immediately and buy a hybrid before it falls apart! Cleary I should be thanking you for saving me from myself.

I haven't read all the posts yet but I'm going ahead and answer the thread anyway.
I just love my Lariat, but I voted for Lobo. My powertrain is so playful but there are times I really want manual control so I would go with a high trim blue Lobo plus sliding rear window and sunroof like my Lariat.

My 22 ecoboost AWD was our first Mav then wife got an 23. Then we traded the the 22 for her 24 HPR, I got her 23 then about a year ago I trade the 23 for a 25.
Our son was a late bloomer, he got his 25 about 10 months ago. I’m still far behind my F150 supercrew crew ownership, I’ve owned 11 of them. Guys at work used to wonder what truck I’d be driving that day. Over the years my wife and I have owned well over a 100 Ford, Lincoln, Mercury vehicles.

Wow! I can't imagine having that much discretionary income to piss away on vehicles. Must be nice.

XL FWD hybrid for me. It's what I wanted to start but it would have had to go a lot further to get one at a decent price. I think I would probably also just leave the steelies on it now too.

Doesn't matter if you buy the cheapest XL or whatever the most expensive possible config is now, it's still at the core a plastic econobox. One other car I looked at in 2024 was a Nissan Sentra SR (I think) that had very nice quilted leather seats, a good Bose sound system, and a sun roof, but kinda the same deal. At the core it was a very cheap Nissan with stuff slapped on it to make you forget, and a whole bunch of crap that would probably just randomly stop working one day and cost a fortune to fix.

You get a trailer hitch with just a 4 pin connector in the XLT.
I got both 4 and 7 pin connectors with the 4K on my XL with a brake controller.

A 400W in-bed power outlet, is included but if I wanted that, I could buy a better inverter myself.
The XL has 12 volts in the bed already that can be used for that.

Just a couple clarifications:
The 4 or 7 pin trailer connections are not tied to the trim level, just the addition, or lack of the 4k tow package.
The 12v connectors in the bed do not have the amperage or wire gauge to support much of an inverter if at all, no where near 400w.

I couldn't care less if you drive an EB. That's your choice.

I just mentioned that many of the similar items were upgraded on the 2025 EB too. Not exactly the same as the hybrid though.

And no upgrades on the EB trans. New transmission/motors is the biggest improvement on the 25-up Hybrid. So either way you buy, there are plenty of upgrades on the 25-26 trucks. OTA updates are nice if enabled too.

Bought an XL for the price and blank canvas that you mentioned. I did a lot of things I would have done to most trims - seat covers, window tint, bedliner, tonneau cover, wheels, etc
If I repurchased, I'd go xlt with lux package for the heated seats and steering wheel. I didn't think I'd want those, but it would be nice to have in a hybrid in the winter.

...all of which has nothing to do with the topic at hand, trim levels and what you would pick today if you had to do it again. Thanks, but I fully understand the mechanical differences between 2022-24 vs 2025+. None of those improvements would have any impact on what trim level I would choose to buy today.
