I already own a ford maverick. fx4 gasoline was thinking of also buying a hybrid, I was wondering if it really saves you money by the time
you have to replace the hybrid battery at around
100;000 miles
hss anyone done the math on it
thsnx
THE Math should include that battery costs continue to decrease, tech to improve it's lifecycle and the chances of moving to another battery tech. Also gas prices will likely continue to climb. I think many 2022 owners have batteries going well beyond 100k.

Havent been on these forums for a while... surprised at the way some are talking about the alternative motor selections ....

Hybrid - gets better gas mileage (but still decent power)
Ecoboost - has more power (but still decent gas mileage)

Choose what makes you happy/ what fits your needs ......

The battery pack isnt blowing up into flames at 100K miles
The turbos arent failing at 100K miles

They are both great little trucks........

I personally chose the EcoBoost because I wanted a Lobo and I like the cool turbo noises
I find no fault in the decision making process for someone who chose the hybrid instead

Its a personal choice.....

My personal plan is to trade hybrid at 95,000 miles probably for another Maverick hybrid Lariat. 78,500 miles to go.

Look at the newer Mach-e, with the added 'conditioner' which keeps it within a preferred temperature range, which the earlier models didn't, there are some with over 300k miles on them. - My brother's a Ford MasterTech & Shop Foreman, and mentioned the conditioner making a huge difference. (And yes, our Mavericks have the equivalent system, simply heated by the ICE in cold weather, cooled in hot.)

Our batteries are expended to go well over 150k miles, barring damage, or the typical 2% faulty during manufacturing. He also mentioned they see very few Mavericks in for other than service or recall work.

I believe the Warranty is for 100k, that does not mean that you have to replace that!

It is warrantied for 8 years/100,000 miles. Should last 150,000 to 200,000. But as with all estimates, that's an average and just an estimate. TESLA batteries typically last 300,000 - 500,000 miles with the same 8/100,000 warranty. Not sure why Ford batteries would last less.

Do you get 35 mpg in your gas maverick. I do in my hybrid. The 13.5 gallon tanks gets me well over 400 miles. With the price of gas not likely to come down for a long time, it seems a good investment to me.

My only regret is that I didn't spring for an EV

Our 2014 Prius has over 123K and battery indicator shows no different than when we bought it. That may or may not be any real reflection of its health, but it still runs great and MPG (47 avg) is undiminished.

Is that average the same summer and winter?

What happens when a lot more drivers have EVs and the price of electricity goes way up?

Yes, the USA needs to eliminate solar and wind collectors so suffering petroleum companies can excel. I’ll probably never own an EV, but I have not yet started to fully convert my home to gasoline power. People riding horses hated the introduction of the auto and tried very hard to stop it, but alas no-internet.

Waaaaaaa. That was a serious question. In the USA we're already strained for generating capacity. The only reason it isn't worse is because of all the heavy industry that has offshored. Demand is going up and production is going down and that equals higher prices.

Oops, sorry Tim!
I’m still reeling from my childhood when the argument for nuclear power was that it would give free energy for 100 years.
We need more flux capacitors.

Nothing is free. Any politician that tells you that is a liar. Nuclear power is viable, a viable breeder reactor project my organization (Argonne National Laboratory/ Argonne West) was killed in the mid nineties. I worked sometimes at nuclear power plants, it was the infrastructure that wore out. How about addressing the original post instead of snide comments?
