If you look at my Avatar, you can see I've had compact Ford trucks! Needed a vehicle to tow behind my motorhome and a daily driver. Maverick checked all the boxes. Still have an F-350 for towing big stuff. FYI, the avatar is a 1929 Ford CCPU with a 6-1/2" cab extension, hot rodded 200 CID 4...
Looking at Post #82, I see a lot of squat on the back end and air in the fender wells of the front end . I have a double axle aluminum trailer about the same size and it's 1800+. Until you actually run it over a scale, your numbers are guestimates at best.
I actually have a special tongue weight scale and use it frequently. Makes a lot of sense when you distribute the load to get the correct tongue weight. Full disclosure: I have an F-350 for real towing!

I'm 85 and I've bought a lot of new cars. For the past 33 years I've lived in a small community where most dealerships are family owned with deep roots in the community. I know for a fact (even though it's frowned upon) that my local dealer will give me service preference over the neighbor that...
I bought the Leer retractable at etrailer.com. There is some lost cargo space due to the canister that is right under the rear window, it's easy for my wife to use it and there's no blocking of the rear window. At $1250, it cost more than the trip-folds, but met our needs.
First off, insurance rates differ from state to state. My policy covers a couple of houses, out buildings and 3 vehicles and a n umbrella policy. No 6 month rate quotes!
Back in the day, the publisher of MOTOR TREND would make the rounds of all of the manufacturers and see who would run the most ads claiming their vehicle was the MT CAR OF THE YEAR. Then they did the MT SUV OF THE YEAR and finally the MT TRUCK OF THE YEAR. Had no idea that the Maverick was MT...
