I will.

You have it backwards.

People conserve water, revenue goes down because fewer units of water were sold. The same number of pipes break and need repair. Prices per unit goes up.

People conserve electricity. Fewer units of electricity are sold. Income from the sale of electricity goes down. Repair bills stay the same. Price per unit of electricity goes up.

EV's don't pay gasoline tax. EV use the roads. Income from gasoline tax goes down due to fewer gallons sold. Road repairs stay the same. Taxes on gasoline go up and/or taxes on EV's go up.

More electricity sold in the future will lower the prices per unit - If you have an EV you will be buying more units.

Execpt that there's less electricity to sell with less generating capacity. What happens when demand goes up with less units to sell?
They are working on restarting 2 old nuclear plants by me because of the need. One of them near me:

I did a 5 minute read about your site.

It ceased operations in 2022 for "financial reasons" which means it wasn't profitable. They were going bankrupt. Price of power was too low. They couldn't compete I guess.

Iowa and Michigan. Two worn out football programs. Wait, sorry, I meant worn out old nuclear plants. Gents, the need is for M-O-N-E-Y. I spent 20 minutes looking at this. One plant is owned by a company based in Jupiter, FL!! The other is based in Juno Beach, FL. Those towns are 5 miles apart. And @25 miles from Mar-a-Lago.

Get yourself a gas, hybrid or EV, or bicycle and a cold beer.

I'm not sure we have any influence over what future energy prices will be, or what the fuel source for that energy will be.

regardless of MPG...I personally enjoy the Hybrid "EV-like" driving experience more with my use case for the truck.

I haven't owned the 2.0L Maverick but I've owned 3 other 2.0L turbo AWD and FWD cars/SUVs. On the hybrid Maverick I enjoy the "EV-like" instant torque off the line and the zero shifting transmission on the freeway. This makes it a joy as my road tripping car and daily grocery getter for me. Some people don't like the eCVTs but once you drive an EV as your primary car it's kinda hard to go back to shifting transmissions...Kinda like new tech versus old tech...but to each their own.

Same for me. I was very interested in the Mav till I found out it was a CVT. Then i heard it was a reliable eCVT and I jumped on it. The smoothness and tech is pretty cool. I wonder what the difference would be if the 2.5 wasn't an Atkinson?

It would make more power but use more gas...The only time I thought the Hybrid needed more power was towing +3k lbs. But I'm sure I would have felt the same way with the stock 2.0T...haha.

Sure. I find the power adequate. Rather have the efficiency. Just hoping the VVT stays trouble free.

That's guaranteed to happen, given the current administration forcing a halt to most renewable resource projects like wind and solar generation. Nuclear also works, but at much higher cost per kilowatt.

Anybody worried about widespread adoption of EV's driving up electricity prices should be crapping a brick about how much energy the data centers are and will be consuming.
A new Chevy Bolt uses ~ 28KW of juice to go 100 miles. Try "googling" how much power does a data center use. Hint - sources vary but it's a lot!

There are two things a man lies about: his sex life and gas mileage.
Well...since i'm divorced and the dating scene is crazy crap...Number 1 is 0 for me. Number 2 is 43.5 !!!! :cwl: :cwl: :cwl:

The nice thing about a hybrid is that it has its own little power generating plant. The primary gas engine creates additional power via the batteries. Anyone worried about the price of electricity would need to be driving an EV or plug-in hybrid.
Of course the hybrid still has to rely on the price of gas… and the electricity used to process/deliver the ⛽.
When the world was looking at alternative ways to power a vehicle, hybrids were the best compromise for the petroleum industry.

I think the only reason we have hybrids is automakers did not want to make EV's.

I had a Chevy Bolt EV for 6 years.
The only "service" it had in 6 years was putting on new tires. And that wasn't at a dealership.

I think I added my own windshield fluids twice. That's all folks.

And with free community and/or workplace charging, I spent about 3 cents a mile of my own money on electricity when away from my local community. Took six 500+ mile trips with it too. Charged during lunch. Was a breeze.

But the reason we have hybrids is they are still petroleum powered and still need dealer provided maintenance. EV's rarely do.
