No, I'm saying he drives/rides what he wants. He doesn't let the fact that he lives in Cali dictate what he can buy. He bought the Shelby fresh out of college, and he earned it. First and only car he bought. He could buy a hybrid, but doesn't need to. He put a trailer hitch on the car to haul their bikes around when traveling. He is an Engineer at GM, and could borrow a vehicle any time he wants. But he prefers the car he owns, not a shop car.
Not at all how the first comment or your questioning was worded, but I get it. Still, scenario based and subjective. Not everyone has that luxury. I'm glad he earned his! Also, it warms my heart seeing a GM engineer choose a FORD/Shelby lol. But @r8drskullz point remains that most people can't do that and that's why they chose the Hybrid. I have to agree that it's strange you don't understand this.

I know this question has been asked here into Submission. I have a 22’ eco, 4K XLT. I have a 54 mile round trip commute almost daily and I tow my 1100 lb alum boat once or twice a month about 20-30 miles each trip. The mpg comp says 29.4 after a year of not resetting. I have a 23’ XLT hybrid BAP tow hitch coming soon. The rate on my loan will be higher but hopefully the magic Maverick equity I have will help offset. This incoming unit is unique b/c it’s before the XLT Lux must have for the BAP. Thoughts?
I myself just ordered EcoBoost with 4K towing capacity. I want the flexibility to be able to tow a trailer down the road. I'm not overly concerned with fuel savings...specially now that the hybrid will cost more. Besides, fuel consumption on hwy driving is comparable on both trims. Hybrid is best suited for city driving IMHO.

When he Bought the Shelby, he was working for Intel. He interned there in the summers, and bought it the day before he started full time for them. I guess the old animosity of driving a different brand to work is over. That was bad in the 70's. He rides the bike so much now (up to 170 miles a day) he could get by without a car. He won't get rid of it though. It's taken him to Canada, Mexico, and all over the states.

I too can enjoy a cobra but why buy one when I can easily also go rent one enjoy the moment. I see cobras here all the time, going to work and park it and go back home and park it.

Boat and Maverick concerns. I do have a 20ft Bass boat and a industry largest 14' marlon jon boat. I've always had 1/2tons and launching was easy. Sometimes....how deep is the launch? How far do you have to back in? Do you have to drop single axle over end of ramp to launch? Tandem axle? Is being 1/2 way up back tires going to be a problem? Pulling out just fwd on wet pavement + 1100lbs and trailer.
I wanted to Tow my jon n trailer with my hybrid...but I will make sure I'm hauling it when my buddies bring theres to. 1500 chevy diesel and bronco badlands 2 door with 35s. This way i can't get stuck at the ramp. I'm hoping this will work out for me....hope you make a great decision!

Not Hi jacking...just letting you know to really think about your lanching and retrieval. We need 4WD majority of times. And pictured is my 14ft I want to tow with hybrid. Where the boats are beached, those are our launches 🤣

Not city here... Is there a misconception that a maverick cant go 30,40,50,60mph in electric?I stopped for a snack. This drive would've ate up a EB on fuel.
