My ecoboost gets 32-34 mpgs regularly -
Each case is individual and depends on the terrain and numbers of stops -and how you use the go pedal - so there is that math too :)
Cheers
When it comes down to it, that's good for a truck.
You said above that they were "free" miles and that's not true. They were just miles driven at a Mav calculated 38.4mpg.

I'm not arguing against the hybrid just your characterization that those miles were free that you didn't buy gasoline for.
Nothing is free. Including EV miles from those cars. There's still talk about taxing EV'S. Hope they don't include hybrids.

Washington state does "tax" hybrids, $75 dollars per year extra for registration, so we pay state gas tax (.554 cents/gal) on top of a fee for supposedly not paying our fair share of road maintenance. Feds are working on adding a tax for EV's and hybrids too.

Oof! Someone did not pay attention in math class. Either that or you fell for some random meme on Facebook and took it as fact.
Feel free to correct my guesstimates rather than contribute to the useless information on the Internet.

If you need to save $41.66 a month on fuel you’d be better off saving up more money and putting more down therefore financing less.
Much easier to save $41.66 a month in interest I would think.
Another way to look at it is you save $500 a year over a five year loan,
The hybrid saved you $2,500 over five years.
With the current cost of fuel it’s more like
$4,500 over five years, about $75 a month.

Still no hybrid owner should worry about the battery failing ever.
I burn about a half a tank a week normally for a cost of about $30 in my Ecoboost at today’s fuel prices.
I’m good.
I agree; there are many other costs and ways to save money on a vehicle purchase than gas alone. I drive a truck that gets 16mpg going downhill with a tailwind. But for the capabilities I needed at the time that I bought it, I comparatively "saved" a lot of money relative to the other vehicles on the market. And because I know I won't keep the car indefinitely, I don't sweat $6 a gallon gas because paying $6 a gallon is still a lot cheaper than paying tens of thousands up front to "save" money on gas.

In Ohio the Mav is considered a light duty truck and exempt from the $100 hybrid annual fee!

Atkinson is a reliable engine that does not get great mileage on its own. So C’mon Ford, where’s the EcoBoost Hybrid and 50mpg for all who care about their numbers?

Regardless of the battery replacement, if you're buying a second car mainly for the purpose to save money...you're going about it the wrong way. Some back-of-the-napkin math (12000 miles a year, $3 a gallon for gas, 50/50 city/hwy driving) shows that you'll save $500 a year on gas with a hybrid FWD versus an EB AWD.

If you bought a new hybrid FWD Maverick with no options for $30k OTD, it'll take 60 years to break even on the price of the car alone.

Just look at your figures and then explain how if the Hybrid only costs $1K more than the Ecoboost, how on earth could it take 60 years to recoup that amount? Read post #37, Mavster Mechanic breaks it down very well.

My figures were based on the idea that @Tigerpawn was going to buy a hybrid Maverick in addition to keeping his EcoBoost Maverick with the primary purpose of saving money on gas, because he said:

I already own a ford maverick. fx4 gasoline was thinking of also buying a hybrid
Rather than "was thinking of selling and buying a hybrid". Obviously if he decided to sell the EB and buy a hybrid with the money, the figures change drastically.

Nonsense. Get your money back from your crack dealers.

Ecoboost, 16 cents a mile at $4 gas.

Hybrid 9 cents a mile at $4 gas.

Hybrid costs only $1000 more to get.
7 cents per mile savings.

Break Even point is driving 14,286 miles.
You're saving money after that no matter who you are. Some people (me) break even in year one.
Again, yes, if @Tigerpawn was going to sell the EB and buy the hybrid, I agree 100% that the hybrid will pay for itself in no time. But my figures were based on @Tigerpawn keeping the EB and buying a hybrid.

I see the disconnect now. I interpreted the OP's post that they are buying a second Maverick either way and it will be an Ecoboost or a Hybrid.

One thing to keep in mind too is that turbos aren't as unreliable as they were decades ago. It figuratively seemed everyone with a turbo ended up replacing them. But earlier models in cars at the time, and the cars tended to be performance oriented vehicles.

My car is BOTH a turbo and a hybrid :) But for that one I wanted more performance. I was looking for good enough for my truck, and it suffices.
A friend with a 90's Subaru replaced her turbo almost every year.

I tow a lot so it's like two different trucks.

I get 47 MPG tank after tank not towing, just daily commuting.

I get 16-18 MPG tank after tank when towing my camper.

On paper I have 45,000 miles at 47 MPG and 15,000 miles at 17.5 MPG.
With my 2025 Hybrid FWD, out of 21 fillups I've had 3 times I averaged over 40 mpg (calculated, not the computer showing), and 3 times under 30. The low ones were highway miles with about 100 miles of it at 80mph. My overall over almost 13 months and 5800 miles is 34.8 mpg.

The plot thickens....

If you can still find one (pretty rare) a 2025 gas 2.0 Maverick is now discounted $3500 compared to a 2026 hybrid.

For a limited time... From dealer stock:
