A regular battery should be sufficient for the 12v system. The focus on the type of battery doesn't address the problem. There's something deeper.
I miss the simplicity of the older vehicles. My F-100 was honest and basic. Few problems ever but I could diagnose anything easily.
Just watched the battery charge % keep dropping and then no dome light. I don't drive it that much, so I'm sure that's part of the issue. But it seems kind of stupid to just drive your truck to keep the battery charged. They said it was charged to over 90% when I left the dealer yesterday and it's already down to 84% which is a little concerning!!!!
I leave my Mav parked 2-3 weeks in summertime and have had zero problems. How do you monitor battery charge? I have a voltmeter in the cigarette lighter socket and it's been steady at 15.2v driving and 11.8v sitting with the ignition on.

With the vehicle on you should be seeing more than 11.8 volts.

Thank you for posting that picture.
I know they're not highly scientific instruments but I get 14.8 to 15.2 on mine while driving.

That is not a picture from me. Not sure who you were meaning to reply to. I monitor our voltages with a logging device (Ancel BM200) on the battery itself.

Gary,
You're right I meant to quote TimothyD.
I'll edit it.
Actually I'm glad I made the mistake otherwise I would have never known about the Ancel BM200
Thank you for correcting me 🤝

The BM200 bought on Amazon is great for watching and more importantly logging what happens with the 12v battery. It draws an extremely low current in operation. Only commicates when you connect to it by Bluetooth.

I'm still on the original 2023 flooded battery without any problems. Although I did remove fuse 11/12. I had reinstalled as a test, last summer and found within two and a half months my interior lights wouldn't come on so I removed it again. It's been 5 months without a problem.🤷‍♂️

Glen, what options/features do you lose when you pull both fuses? I am really considering pulling them.

I'll start with your first question. What options / features did I lose?
I lost the option of using Ford pass from my phone. (I realize for some folks that's an important feature to lose.) I lose the ability for the truck to auto update off of my home internet. Which it can not connect to because I never gave it the password when I replaced my modem / router.
Other than that I have no idea what other options I have lost. I guess if I never used them I never lost them.😁
Fuse 11/12 is actually one combined socket here are some pictures.
I hope this helps good luck,
GB

This is fuse 11/12's location on the fuse panel.👇

Behind your glove compartment this is also where you change your cabin air filter.👇

If you haven't looked at it my post #4 is kind of a long read but may have some information that you can use. Including the proper sequence to reset the BMS after your battery is fully charged.

Why do you not want to use FordPass? It is for us a critical necessity as it is the only way our 2023 Lariat can have remote start and lock/unlock from a remote location. They also did not include remote start from FOBs in certain build dates of LAriats in 2023 model year, supposedly because of supply chain difficulties in getting modules.

Thank you for the very in depth answer. I have a 22 XLT lux with the original flooded battery 53K miles. I bought an AGM battery (H4) from Amazon but I am waiting until it warms up to install it. I think I will try the fuse removal to buy me some more time and better weather.

Thanks Glen

Gary,
I used Ford Pass when I first got my Maverick. The more I started reading about the telematics fuse 11/12 and it's possible relationship to low battery syndrome. I started thinking, I can probably do without it. I procrastinated pulling fuse 11/12 until one night at my niece's house when she wanted to look at my truck and I opened the door, the interior light didn't come on and then it did it again at home. That was it. I removed fuse 11/12 charge the battery BMS reset and have had no problem since.🤷‍♂️
As I previously said, I realize that Ford pass is important for some folks. It isn't for me. My last three vehicles I've been able to remote start off of the Key FOB, which I realized you have to be within a certain distance to use.
I don't have the ability to use the key fob start on my Maverick. It is what it is and I live with it.
I would rather have the interior lights come on when I open the door and not be wondering if my truck is going to start in the morning. Which in my experience I've been able to tie to fuse 11/12.

Nice long time span!

Curious what your average daily drive time is like, since that's a good amount of miles potentially?

With the vehicle on you should be seeing more than 11.8 volts.
Just the ignition is on so the battery has a load on it. When the ICE runs it goes up to over 15v. I think if I tested the battery by itself it would be over 12v. That's why I asked how they test the battery.
