I'm sorry.

Before now, I'd never heard of or noticed the silent lock lever.
I checked out this thread expecting to find others who'd experienced the same random self-locking phenomenon that (I thought) had been my experience. I did.

And then I found what looked like condescending voices mocking these people I could relate to, & felt compelled to enter the (perceived) fray.

Mind you, a silent locking lever was in the realm of things I didn't know and didn't know I didn't know.

I was SURE that I wasn't somehow accidentally pushing the lock button. I was sure that I was right. I was sure that some of you were aggressively tryna make some of us wrong, that you were arguing that there was simply no way the truck could lock itself...

So I persisted.

I thought some of you guys were being smart asses, so I thought I'd be a smart ass.

I was wrong. I was a dumb ass. A wrong dumb ass who didn't know it and didn't know he didn't know it.

I'm sorry.

Sincerely,

Patrick
Tsk-tsk. The number one rule of My Maverick Locks Itself Club is that you never admit that your Maverick doesn't lock itself. :D

Friend last night in his Rav4.
Ended up with 2 key fobs for some reason - after a hike, one fell out inside somewhere - he couldn't fob or handle lock it with one on outside, because it knew. Couldn't find it either in low light.

Mentioned complaint of Mav owners and what they accidentally did.
He got in - locked all button - opened his door - pushed in lever - closed door - done.
Just no alarm set he thinks, since fob not used to lock.

So compared to that - the Mav actually has an improvement, as tested in prior post.
Can fob lock all and arm the alarm - with another fob left in cabin.
I lock wife's fob in truck frequently. Can lock both fobs in truck with keypad also.

Don’t fret over this Patrick, that’s what this forum is all about, explaining and learning. When I first became a member there were things I didn’t understand or believe cause I never experienced it, so “it’s not true”. But, eventually guess what, the old (ok, and young) farts here do know what they are talking about! (Except which oil and filter to use)! 😉🤣

The real sad thing is, some folks have left the form because they were unwilling to accept actual examples of how they were locking the door. I know some that are still on the forum have probably hit the ignore button on me, because they didn't like my answers. Their loss. I tried to do the research and set up the demonstrations as simply as possible.
As a matter of fact I've got one or two more in the works. One of them is what messages you get when the windshield camera becomes blocked while you're driving.
I appreciate you.

Thankfully, I've never thought of leaving the forum. I've learned a lot here, been turned on to several great discounts like the Granger ESP at dealer cost, and cool mods like my favorite, the Fumoto engine oil drain valve.

Regrettably, I did think about exiting the thread before I learned about the lock lever. After reading the few posts that got me started, I didn't return except to be a wrong dumb ass, over & over... 🤦🏼

Keep doing what you do. This is the first and last of me misbehaving. ☺

Thanks, Glen

Thanks, Meeka.

I have learned a lot. I ordered a 23 in Sep 22, & have been hanging around here ever since. On July 23 she rolled into a 24, & delivered Nov 23.

I had learned a lot here by the time she delivered. I was telling Glen I got into a Granger ESP at dealer cost. It came in handy when, at 40K the turbocharger/wastegate had to be replaced. (The only problem I've had was a big one. They had hell getting at it. Like nobody's ever done one before. : )

Because MTC, I do my own oil changes. (Mobile1 full synth, Mobile1 filter. : ) Because MTC, I installed the Fumoto drain valve at first oil change.

I'm an old guy who enjoys doing everything I have the tools for, along with a YouTube video or 12. And guys like you, generously here.

I appreciate y'all.

Carry on! ☺

Oh my. Thank you, omniscient one, for fixing my post. As a show of adoration, allow me to fix yours. When the lock button is pressed, whether intentionally or not, there is produced a distinct sound. For one of sound hearing, this sound of doors locking would be a pretty hard to miss. I, of myself, know very little. But my ears work. 🥰🥰
It's not the lock (power) button. So you wouldn't hear it. It's (likely) the actual lock that's integrated with the door handle. It's easy to hit inadvertently. Ford actually sent a bulletin to us telling us that many drivers were inadvertently pressing the latch mechanism when they opened the door to get out. You may or may not be doing that. But we've had several drivers become offended thinking we were accusing them of being stupid. But once they started paying close attention, the problem never happened again. The placement of the interior latch makes it easy to do when pushing the door open after pulling the handle. Some never check the passenger door when it happens and simply assume all doors are locked. But if the other doors are unlocked, then that's what happened

Thanks, Darryl.

I was offended until I finally understood that there is a power lock button AND a lock lever. (Went out to the Mav & saw for the first time the lock that's integrated with the door handle. 🤦🏼) Then I was embarrassed, almost mortified. ☺

I eventually made amends to the guys who'd tried to illuminate me until they had no choice but to give up trying. ☺

Appreciate you.

^^^^^ Yeah just playing with the lever lock there is minute movement, like a 1/4" range from lock to unlock. With my Bronco, the Bronco's is harder to move and a little more range. Both a far cry from the knobs on top of the door card they made back in the day.

You weren't too bad. 😆 The real hard heads took their bat and ball and left the forum and haven't been seen since.🤷‍♂️ Or hit the ignore button on me.😆
I just looked at the Bronco Sport Forum. Those folks are complaining about the driverd door "Automatically locking"with the keys inside the truck starts at post #72.
Because the broncosport uses the same style interior door handle is the Maverick. The cause is the same owner-induced, pushing the door open and locking it by mistake.
