Hi All,
Really need your help. This morning, my maverick truck was broken in. I was only able to get a video of the tail of my maverick. It seems that my truck was targeted.
You can see that my truck light was off and then a Prius slow drive up and my truck light was on (like someone unlocked). Of course, someone went though my stuff inside. After the prius left, then my truck light was off after that.
Is there something with Maverick remote unlock system that can be defeated so easily? Never had any issue parking outside until with the Maverick just today. I have the Maverick for about 2 months. Really don't feel safe with the truck anymore. This is Lariat version. Thanks.

I only park my cars in a garage. I assume that your car is not far from your keys. If you have a Lariat, it is possible to get the signal from the remote. No wonder Faraday boxes have been selling like hot cakes.

My key is maybe 100ft-150ft from the truck, but I am not sure how they know to drive to my truck and not other cars around there.

The relay signal can be that long without anyone standing near my house?

They can clone any car key when you lock/unlock your doors in a parking lot. Gps tag your vehicle then wait for the right time to hit your car. Has nothing to do with Mavericks.

Edit: i looked into it. first question - have you had any issue recently where one of your keyfobs didnt work? so you used your other keyfob?

other thoughts:

1. some traditional locksmith method of getting in - slim jim, etc.

2. since you have a lariat they might have used a repeater near your home to grab your keyfob signal.

3. they used a method of replaying keyfob1 / essentially disabling it from working with the truck / and keyfob2 being brought into play enabled their system unfettered access to your vehicle (see top of page question).

4. they had access to your vehicle (the dealership perhaps) and added your truck to their Ford Pass - allowing them to unlock your vehicle at will. this also could have been done with literally anyone who's had physical access to your truck (valet/detailer).

One thing I’ve noticed about my lariat there are times I’m going to my truck and the doors open without me pushing the unlock button. I know I locked it walking away. My keys are in my pocket and I realize I didn’t hit unlock. Not sure if it’s just signal that I’m near by or what but maybe your key fob was just within reach of it unlocking and the guys 22 order didn’t make the cut and they have to order a 23. They wanted to see if the lariat was worth it or go with an xl and they just didn’t wanna wake you to ask.

isn’t that a feature? Keyless entry - unlocks when you touch the handle?

I thought that was the key pad I don’t know. This is my 1st truck I have a fob for I refused to have a truck payment since I was 17 everything I owed was cash. I was waiting for 23 but found this one on the lot guy didn’t take the order after build so I just got lucky. I still don’t know half of what the truck dose I just know it’s the truck and color I wanted and how to use cruise control. Oh and if I put my phone on the pad it charges outside of that all the other features ehhh im a simple guy the fact that I don’t have to roll the window down myself I won.

I worried about keyless entry and was it really locked. Left the keys far away and I could not gain entry. Also, push the bottom two buttons locks, one press on the fob locks and two presses on the fob locks. The two presses is just to startle the person walking by.

I have only used 1 keyfob so far.
1) From the camera, the prius drives us slow and then my maverick light is already on. the traditional method should take a few minutes I think

2) I think this is most likely but don't they need a repeat near my keyfob also? So 100ft or so is enough for them to amplify? Seem they know to target my truck.

3)

4) I've recently reset my system many times, trying to get cplay2air working (This is another story). Dont buy this if you have maverick. I've bought the TNVTEC CarPlay (also working not very smooth). Anyhow, I've recieved it on Wednesday and tried it out on Wednesday's even. thursday's morning my car was broken in. The TNVTEC CarPlay box came like used. So now I am wondering if this carplay is related to my truck getting broken in or just coincident. sigh

1. someone may have been working on your car before the prius came into frame - the prius may have only pulled up once they were in.

2. repeating the fob - not sure on range honestly.

3. where is your other keyfob located? its not in the truck is it?

beyond that - were there any signs of forced entry?

My bet is on the signal cloning. Essentially "Wardriving ", which is nothing new. Been happening for years and years related to hacking wireless networks.

Well, whoever adds Ford Pass first has to give permission to additional users/phones, so I don't think that could be done without you knowing (whether someone else was first or second).

Both keyfobs are inside my house about 100ft away.
No force of entry anywhere.

I really think it's either related to the proximity related entry / keyfob or my new wireless apple carplay. I was suspicious of the device since it's looked like used with scratches while it should be new.

The keypad entry may have been the source of access, the OEM code could have been stolen. I would update the 5 digit code when you get a chance.

Also the Hybrid clicks and clacks endlessly for about an hr after the truck is off. sounds like its unlocking the car but I always check and it stays locked.

But this is very disheartening to hear.

Did you file a police report?
