I have a bed extender (factory) on my XLT. If I line it with a tarp it could hold more. Next time I will let you know how it works.;)

If you want to get fancy, buy one of those rolling fabric/woven sheets that you can lay down in the bed first. Then you crank it/roll it up after the mulch is on top of it and it drags all the mulch out the back end into your wheelbarrow or onto the ground behind the truck. Only leaves a bit on top of the wheel wells when you are done. Surprisingly, yes, you can crank/drag a yard of mulch out of your bed with that system. Very little shoveling needed.

Were you able to fit 1 or 2 yards per load?
The bed accommodates about 1.25 yds. I happen to live about a mile from my landscape place so it's no big deal for me to make multiple trips. If I lived far away and needed several yards I would use a trailer.

Just saw a great video of a giant loader bucket (guessing...8 to 10 yard bucket?) doing the "dumping only a yard into a truck" trick. Here's a couple screen captures. I don't think it ended well for his suspension, but the loading/dumping method is great.

My local supplier has a half yard bucket, I went during business hours Saturday to pick up a yard of mulch but they were closed, maybe off on a delivery or short staffed or something. So anyway I didn’t get to experiment with that and get pictures but I did pick up 70 landscape edge blocks and 20 bags of 2 cu ft of mulch and more of sand and gravel over a few trips. Let me tell ya, I’m fricken tired of this landscaping project.

I'm glad someone posted this question as when my truck FINALLY gets here I plan to get a load of dirt. I did it before in a slightly bigger truck and yes I used the tarp--worked wonderfully and made for easy cleanup when I was done. Thanks y'all!
