You could ALWAYS lock the key inside. I believe the idea behind the fob is to keep it in your pocket. By the way, if I'm not mistaken , the Maverick keypad was always a dealer installed add on.
No. My 2023 XLT had the factory keypad on the door. My 24 Lariat lost the keypad. I haave managed to survive without it.

There wasn't any way to get keyless entry on the XLT in 2023, even with Lux. These pre-facelift trucks had to have been the last mash-up of heated-steering-wheel luxury and old-time key-twist ignition. :D
No. My 2023 XLT Lux had the door keypad as part of the package. My 24 Lariat did not. I bought the Lariat because I wanted the rear parking sensors that were only available on the Lariat.

Locked myself out of the Mav while digging it out of the snow with the defroster running. Good thing I installed the keypad. Cheap at twice the price.
A lot of people are saying that they’re getting locked out of the Mav which technically they are, but you’re only locking the manual lever on the driver’s door with your hand. The other three doors are ALWAYS open. Try that first before your keypad. Just to test it.

Yes, that’s because Ford did away with the keypads on the Mavs for 2024. I believe it’s been stated. No trims got it in 2024.

Unless you have your settings to ONLY unlock the drive door when you open it after driving over 5 mph and auto-lock all happened already.
Or the setting for ONLY unlocking drivers door with fob unlock, and you just moved it down the driveway.

That's why with the right combo of settings and going fast enough - you easily may not have 3 doors unlocked to get back in.

To clarify, “keyless entry” has nothing to do with the keypad. It is the “touch the door handle to lock/unlock” ability like the Lariats had in MY24 - the XLTs never got that until MY25 refresh.

My 2023 XLT Lux does have the keypad, same as yours.

Yeah, we’re talking about two different things here.

Tested my XL this morning.
The driver door button locks all the doors when pushed. If the key is in the ignition and you push the door lock button, the horn beeps twice and the doors do not lock.

When locking the truck using the key fob, press once to lock the drivers door. Press twice to lock the rest of the doors. When all the doors are locked, It will beep once. Same goes for unlocking. Press once for the driver door, twice for the rest of the doors. No beeping.

Moral of the story:
If you don't want to lock your key in the truck. Never leave it in the truck when it is not in the ignition.
Get a keypad.

That seems very wrong, I only have to press the fob once to lock all doors. Why would anyone want that locking behavior. It may make sense for some with unlocking, but for locking it does not make any sense.

The keypad was a standard factory installed item on the XLT/Lariat trims in 2023. I have it and use it all the time. It was discontinued for 24's, but could be an optional dealer installed stick on.
This was a key selling point when I bought my 23,

You are correct. The truck is completely locked with one button press. I thought the second press had something to do with anti-theft, but I can't find it in the manual.

2nd press is purely for audible confirmation if not watching the lights.

Settings to effect the unlock behavior, but not the lock. You are correct of course.

I stand corrected. One press of the lock on the FOB locks all the doors. The second press makes it beep. The alarm does not seem to set. I double locked it and then reached in an open window and opened the door. I remember that setting off the alarm. It did not.

20 sec. has to lapse before the alarm is actually armed. I'm testing it now.

I tried opening the door immediately after setting the alarm and nothing happened.
This video is after the truck sat for a little more than 20 seconds.

Yes, you are correct. The “button” with the lock symbol locks all the doors when pushed, but the “lever” lock above door handle only locks the driver’s door.
