They

I know it will never happen but they should cut us all deals on the keypad that got screwed without them.
I can sympathize, but they didn't screw you out of anything any more than they screwed me out of port injection or a hybrid AWD for buying a 2023.

Here's what I did after I lost my keys when shopping with my truck locked in the parking lot.

My 23 has a keypad, so I found a local locksmith that had keyfobs in stock, and cut and programmed it to my truck all for $75. Then I hid it under the drivers seat frame with velcro.

So now, pretty much whatever happens, I can at least get in my truck and get home.

Maybe this idea will help someone.

So you didn't have to do the self-programming - or did they just jump in and do it?

Lux - so keyless entry?
Would have used the center console area, if you had 2 OEM keys with you.
If not, I guess he actually did it cheap. Pretty good.

There wasn't any way to get keyless entry on the XLT in 2023, even with Lux. These pre-facelift trucks had to have been the last mash-up of heated-steering-wheel luxury and old-time key-twist ignition. :D

I've done the programming myself for the third key before for other Fords with 2 keys. But they just jumped in and did it for me after cutting the key, with their programming tool.....this place I found specializes in car key fobs, not just a general locksmith.

I know $75 bucks is cheap for the fob and all, but prices vary tremendously from place to place. I called three or four and got everything from dealer $250 to $75. Shop around.

FYI, I think the cheapest place I found in my area JUST to cut a key blank that I already had was like $60...lol. So I used a guy on eBay for $25 including shipping and the blank.

My 2025 is the first FOB vehicle I've ever seen that lets you accidentally lock yourself out with the FOB inside. Has happened to me a few times because the doors seem to lock themselves arbitrarily. But I have luckily had my phone in my pocket and could unlock them through the app. But today I left both the fob and my phone in the car when I jumped out to move something and the door locked automatically behind me and I was locked out of the running truck. Had to call my wife to drive over with her FOB. My previous cars were unlockable when the fob was inside the car. You could lock them from inside but as soon as you open the door to get out all of the doors would unlock.
I also hate the arbitrary horn beeping that happens sometimes when you get out of the car and shut the door behind you. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for when it does that. I'm apologizing to startled bystanders all the time.
Was not laughing at you. It's just that I did the same thing very recently. Glad I had the keypad; it saved my ass. Would have had to walk two miles in subzero temperatures if it were not for that.

Do you have push button start? If so you may want to consider a Faraday bag for the keyfob. Someone could technically break the window and open the door and start the truck without needing to find the key.

The keypad was a standard factory installed item on the XLT/Lariat trims in 2023. I have it and use it all the time. It was discontinued for 24's, but could be an optional dealer installed stick on.
2023 Lariat hybrid. Love my keypad.

Locked myself out of the Mav while digging it out of the snow with the defroster running. Good thing I installed the keypad. Cheap at twice the price.

I bought a key fob for my 2022 Lariat Lux, the one recommended in the thread on here.

I've e tried repeatedly to program the third key, and always get key program failure.

That Faraday bag is a good idea.

My truck has a key, so someone would have to break the window and find the key to start it. But if you have push-to-start, then even if you hid a keyfob it would have to be taken out of the bag to start the truck.

For me, it is good money spent on a keypad and/or extra fob. All you have to do is be locked out once, especially in bad weather, and I would wish I had done this ahead of time.
