Interesting test scenario - does an off/on start cycle reset the truck's knowledge of a 2nd fob in cabin?
Or did it ever track it?

What if the passenger key arrives first and doors unlocked by touch, then drivers key arrives, then vehicle started.
That key leaves 1st.
Does the lock all work correctly with passenger key left.

I've never heard anyone describe a situation where it seems like the truck is watching 2 fobs, but I guess it would be a good idea.
More curious - good to know the backup scenarios work correctly.
It doesn't matter which key I unlock the car with, I can lock either in the car.

Here's me locking the first key in the car:

To bad they got rid of keypad on door I have in my 23.
My 24 XLT FX4 does not have the keypad on the door. But I want one. Has anyone in Canada purchased the stick on one from a dealer and can inform me of the price, thanks. Also, do they have to program it? Which is probably more $$$

Why not just use the Ford app to unlock your vehicle remotely?
From the original post: "But today I left both the fob and my phone in the car when I jumped out to move something and the door locked automatically behind me and I was locked out of the running truck."

You are about to be inundated with all kinds of why, why, why,. You might just consider spending about $165 and get the keypad installed. Works for me!!!
Yep, I learned that one the hard way. If you EVER plan to leave your keys in the car for any reason, get that keypad installed. I replayed the circumstances of how I got locked out through my head many times, and there's no way I bumped the lock button on the front door while shutting the back door.

https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/vehicle-lockout.76141/

Actually just got my pickup back from the body shop yesterday from that incident, down about $500 of my own money, a scratched panel we didn't replace due to the payout, many hours of my time filling out paperwork and fielding phone calls from claims agents, and 5 days without my pickup while it was fixed right.

Not sure about Canada, but I went to Ford
Thank you guys. I'll get the keypad.
Recommend you order from Ford online. They have a drop-down window with cooperating dealers who install for $56. If you buy it separately, dealer will charge more. One dealer told me the shop book listed installation at 1.5 hour which was $225 at their shop rate.
Note: I believe 24 is different part number than 25 MY.

I actually found that out by testing what would happen. Makes sense that I touched the lock spot on the door handle. However when the exterior lock feature is activated, it normally locks all of the doors
Yeah...but you didn't "HIT" the exterior lock feature...you "pushed in" the manual lock lever on the driver's door.

My Toyota and dodge will not lock if there is a key inside period. You have to wrap it in foil if want to leave it inside, even in the trunk
The Fords will. I can lock my 250 with the Fob in the truck...using the exterior keypad. I can lock the truck running...Fob inside with the keypad. I only thing I can't get it to do is allow my dog to pull the truck up to the front of Wal-Mart when I come out......yet.

🤔 I think, I've something about this "Autolock" phenomenon 🤣🤣
Good news, enough customers complained, that they're bringing back the wired keypad.
Too bad that won’t help me with my 25 and no keypad. That’s one of the best features on a ford.

Can be added as a dealer accessory, though it is wireless and battery powered.

Oops, guess I did not read properly. Thanks for the clarification.
Fortunately, my wife has a Maverick as well and she has access to my vehicle and vice versa. Can always ask her to unlock it.

This is why I had the dealer install a keypad before I took delivery. Once you have it you never want to be without it. Locking yourself out is a thing of the past with Fords. Don't know why all other manufactuers don't have this.

Patients, Trademarks and copyrights.
Kind of like why Ford doesn't have GM Style Corner step bumpers.

I know it will never happen but they should cut us all deals on the keypad that got screwed without them.

As much as I would love to have all-wheel drive and 4,000 lb towing capacity. I'm not willing to give up what I have on my 2023 Maverick hybrid, now that I've got it the way I like it, including a wired keypad, climate control knobs, a place to conveniently mount my GPS next to my small infotainment screen which I don't mind. I still use Garmin GPS when I travel, because of a lack of cell service in the areas.
