Keys can be locked in the truck.

You’re the best Glen! If it wasn’t for you people here would still be trying to figure out this “Phenomenon”! Thank-you. 😉 Wow, this is getting technical, tri-pods etc.
I was wondering if you would get the Travis Taylor trigger word 👍👍👽

What about the most cost effective option ?

Just don’t lock your keys in your car !
When I first started driving in my teens, I would lock the "keys" (NO. I MEAN real keys, like old metal things) inside quite a bit. No fobs, no Smart phones= find a pay phone and call mom and dad for help.
I started forming a habit of checking my pockets every time I stepped out of the car and rarely locked them in for many years.
Now as I get older it is getting difficult all over again as my mind is getting duller. UGH!

My 2025 is the first FOB vehicle I've ever seen that lets you accidentally lock yourself out with the FOB inside. Has happened to me a few times because the doors seem to lock themselves arbitrarily. But I have luckily had my phone in my pocket and could unlock them through the app. But today I left both the fob and my phone in the car when I jumped out to move something and the door locked automatically behind me and I was locked out of the running truck. Had to call my wife to drive over with her FOB. My previous cars were unlockable when the fob was inside the car. You could lock them from inside but as soon as you open the door to get out all of the doors would unlock.
I also hate the arbitrary horn beeping that happens sometimes when you get out of the car and shut the door behind you. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for when it does that. I'm apologizing to startled bystanders all the time.
To bad they got rid of keypad on door I have in my 23.

Couldn't you have had your wife download the Ford App and log into the account to unlock the truck remotely for you and save her the drive? Hell if I was super desperate 100s of miles away from home I would ask random strangers if I could borrow their phone...lol

My Toyota and dodge will not lock if there is a key inside period. You have to wrap it in foil if want to leave it inside, even in the trunk

I had a spare key made & kept it in my wallet. For a while, they had a set that was the size of a credit card but thicker out of plastic. It wouldn't hold up for regular use but was perfect for when you locked the keys inside.

My VW ID4 will "try" not to lock the keys inside...but there are some random dead zones in the car and it did happen a handful of times.

I personally don't like how it looks....lol. I rather just hide a key stashed somewhere on the exterior.
Seeing as how Ford is bringing back the wired keypad. I'm thinking you're in the minority😉

First time I locked my keys in the car I bent up a metal coat hanger.
It was a matter of seconds and I got right in.
Don’t ask how I got that skill.
:’P
The next time I got smarter and put a key in a little magnetic box
and stuck that on the inside of my steel bumper,
In an odd spot. Worked like a charm.

I miss steel, It saved my life more than once.

I know this isn't really what you are asking about...

But I know this for a fact. When I go on road trips I take two keyfobs with me. One I keep on my persons and another one in my suitcase/bag as a backup. While traveling I can easily lock the second key in the car with the fist key. When we are at a hotel I keep the second key there just in case we get locked out or I lose my primary key as extra insurance.

Also if I lose my primary key while the second key in in the car I can still open the door with the phone app. Originally I thought I would need a Faraday bag for the second key to achieve this but I was surprised I did not.
Interesting test scenario - does an off/on start cycle reset the truck's knowledge of a 2nd fob in cabin?
Or did it ever track it?

What if the passenger key arrives first and doors unlocked by touch, then drivers key arrives, then vehicle started.
That key leaves 1st.
Does the lock all work correctly with passenger key left?

I've never heard anyone describe a situation where it seems like the truck is watching 2 fobs, but I guess it would be a good idea.
More curious - good to know the backup scenarios work correctly.

Why not just use the Ford app to unlock your vehicle remotely?
Many discover that when they really want to use it - no cell signal, truck or phone.

Almost every trailhead I've parked at has no cell service, or my phone is on rural roaming.
Is the truck allowed to access AT&T roaming, or only ATT network?

Never mind even with service, that would be the time that Deep Sleep Mode is engaged, and remote access is disabled.
