I have a 2024 Maverick Hybrid with 47,000 miles. It keeps going into deep sleep mode. Brought to the dealer today. They said I need a new battery so it will be about $900. Told it is not covered under warranty. I thought the hybrid batteries were covered up to 100,000 miles.

The Hybrid EV battery is. Not the 12v battery underneath your back seat. The sleep issue has a thread so long it reaches the planet Saturn! Many will suggest you buy your own battery (an AGM battery, not another wet cell battery) for $200 or less, and then have your neighbor's mechanically inclined youth install it and buy him/her a pizza. Or someone you trust.

And before all of my fellow members attack me, I have to say this or I will become the scourge of the community. The AGM battery won't solve the problem, but it will last longer that another wet cell battery. I have had one since May of 2024 and the battery is doing fine. Yes, I get the occasional sleep message, but my wet cell battery didn't last 2 months before it completely died.

Ford is working on a fix for this. Stay tuned.

They are definitely talking about your 12V battery rather than your hybrid battery. No way the hybrid battery would cost $900 lol. At the same time, $900 to install a 12V is insane. Buy the AGM one off Amazon for $150, install it yourself, do the BMS reset, and save a lot of $$$

No - it's a wear item.

Is my AMG battery covered by the extended warranty after the 36000 mile 3 year warranty....
well I have this real life story - my years were up this October, had 0 probs w/ orig battery. Bought the extended warranty from granger. 2 weeks ago battery was dead, I jumped it, it fired right up . Figured that well it's 3 years old and winter around the corner so I'll go buy a battery and replace it on my own since a battery is a maintenance item. Looked at the work involved with replacing it and just decided to let the dealer do it and I'd just take the hit of probably around $400+. Got a call from them a few hours later saying yeah they tested the old one it for sure was pretty dead and that they put in a brand new AGM battery and also did some calibrations and it was ready to be picked up AND it was covered by my extended warranty so all I need to pony up was my $100 deductible. I really don't know why they covered it but I asked zero questions. So maybe they'll do the same for you.

I'm really wondering if there is a TSB to gives permission to replace with AGM, and perhaps they fudged a bit since close enough.
Great deal at least.

In case you didn't read the thread that reached Saturn, one "temporary fix" that costs a lot less than a battery replacement is to get a battery maintainer and let in charge while it's in the garage or driveway.
These are available to run with either chorded utility power or with a solar panel if you don't have an AC outlet available where you park. It's not a actual correction to the issue, but it will eliminate the dead battery problem.

Has anyone found that the battery was more susceptible to dying from a lot of short trips where the battery didn't get charged enough, or perhaps sat for long periods? Mine has given low charge msg. twice, when I was doing a lot of short tripping. Coincidence?
I may get a tender; is there any consensus which might be the best one or are they all more or less the same???

I did the optima battery which is a AGM, worked great for 2 years and then the dreaded deep sleep popped up. Put a smart charger directly on the battery and let it repair it and desulfating it. The deep sleep didn’t go away until I did the reset so it would catch up with the battery. I’m aware your supposed to go thru the BMS sensor, I didn’t want to damage it due to the smart charger sending strange pulses thru it. So far it is good to go. I don’t think the charge system properly charges the battery and it sulfates bad. I spent $300 on the yellow top optima and it stilled failed but was fixable with a smart charger to de sulfate it.
