If you are talking about the Homelink mirrors that have the garage door opening buttons in them just search for Homelink. This was one of the first mods I did to mine using a cheap new Homelink mirror from a Hyundai Palisade (as the Kia ones mentioned in the earlier threads are no longer available cheap), has been working great. There are more details on the threads you will find.

I updated my garage door rather than my truck with a $40 Apple Home compatible garage door opener. Takes minutes to install and works with 200+ different makes of openers.

The button shows up on CarPlay when you are within about 1/4 mile of home, or you can tell Siri to open or shut the door.

Also added an automation to shut the door when I leave that 1/4 mile radius (and turn off the lights, make sure the TV is off and close the blinds in my home office.)

Requires an iPhone in the truck (of course) and another Apple product like AppleTV or HomePod at home to act as the hub.

I keep mine in the cubby everyone hates. Out of sight and easily pushed to open the doors. Best part is if the truck gets totaled it is transferable to the next one.

Like some others I just used 2 sided tape and put it in the small cubbie in the middle of the dash and it is pretty much hid from view. Also mine is just one long button so I do not have to worry about hitting button one, two, or three. Just press and it is done.....

That was easy...

What I did. Plus got an extra one to Velcro to wall at house back door to easily open the garage door when going out. Or stepping inside the house.

I put our's in the overhead sunglass/eyeglass holder. Velcroed it in so it is easy to remove to change batteries when the need arises.

What you did was my second option but I did the hard wire installation to not be bothered with batteries and give it a factory installed look. I really had to gulp over the price. At the end of the day I probably should have just done what you did.

Why are people so opposed to using the remote that came with their garage opener?

If the car is parked out in your driveway and someone breaks in they can use it to open your garage door. Also if you are parked somewhere else and they break in and steal it and look in your glove box and see your registration or something else with your address on it they can they go to your house and open your garage door.

With the Homelink mirror it is only powered when the ignition is on.
