I'm surprised BMW / Mercedes / VW group even offer an extended warranty.I went without on a BMW, and skipped it when I got a nearly $5000 quote. And it wouldn't have paid for itself since the issues arose after it would have expired.
Can't decide on the Maverick 10 year / 100K yet, will probably though when the salesmen comes on this forum with the terrible news that rates are going up even more next year. It honestly seems like 50/50 since anything with a wiring harness, heck even the headlights is straight to $1,000+ in repairs, but on the other hand I honestly feel like the hybrid powertrain is solid, and a lot of the other repairs start piling up after 100K (why the longer warranties are far more $).
I would also add that something like a half warranty repair would drive me nuts. Say one strut start leaking at 93K miles, but they are both 100% shot. Ford is only going to pay for 1. Same for stuff like a CV shaft, ball joint, tie rod end, heck even brake pads if those are covered. If 1 is bad, 2 are bad. If I were paying for those repairs out of pocket, both are going to be replaced when the other is probably going to go bad right as I'm driving out of the shop. The warranty bean counter doesn't see it that way though.
