I am coming to the end of my 3/36 warranty, with only a 1200 miles and 4 month left I have decided not to buy a extended warranty. My Maverick has been problem free and yes I know that doesn't guarantee a problem free future but I am going to take my chances.

Like you - I have never ever purchased an extended warranty on any of the thousands of purchases I’ve made over the decades.

Until my 2025 Lobo. $28/mo for 66 months from my dealer…”We will remedy any breakdown of your vehicle except items listed under “what we will not cover”.

The list of items they DO cover goes way beyond power train. Electronics is a large section of what IS covered - and the Maverick is stuffed with electrical & electronic items.

What is NOT covered is the usual maintenance/consumable stuff - but glass stuff is NOT covered. Welds & Hinges & Paint is NOT covered. Cosmetic stuff like gaps in panels is NOT covered. Rust is Not covered. Plus you must maintain your car with them or keep DIY receipts.

I can cancel anytime - but I feel a lot less worry knowing what IS covered. And I’m not even one to worry lol - but I’m keeping the coverage.

I’ve owned a dozen new cars none with extended warranty. My last car, a Corolla Hatchback, I think the finance guy & me both laughed when extended warranty came up.

I didn't buy one either on my 2022 Hybrid.

Though Ford gave me a free 3 year/36000 mile extended warranty after replacing my Engine at 39,000 miles.

As soon as I decided that I liked the truck enough to keep it I bought the extended warranty. If I had any reservation or thinking I was going to move on before the warranty ran out then I was just going to pass. I was holding off pending the announcement for the next generation trucks. Specifically a Maverick sized EV/EREV was what I was hoping we would hear about. Sadly that does not appear to be in the cards. There will be a midsized truck, but older battery tech, and too small a battery to be useful. As soon as those details started to get leaked I just went ahead and bought the extended warranty on the Maverick. Looks like I am going to own this truck for a good long time.

Extended Warranty on a previous Elantra paid for itself. The backup camera crapped out and dealer wanted to charge around $1400. I let them know I had the extended warranty and it was fixed for free, same day ($0 deductible). Also covered a battery replacement on that same vehicle later.

I have gotten extended warranties ever since. When I sell the vehicle, I go back to the previous dealer I bought from for a pro-rated refund of the remaining warranty.

Given vehicles are rolling computers and more tech than ever, many items I cannot service or replace on my own. Thus, the extended warranty fits my needs for owning beyond the basic warranty coverage timeframe.

I do plan to sell my '22 Hybrid XL before I reach the 125,000 mile mark for this extended warranty.
Too many expensive electrical/technical components to be out of warranty/out of pocket on.

$1,500 was my cost for this extended warranty. Takes me from 36,000 miles basic Ford warranty to 125,000 miles coverage. For example, new OEM Ford Maverick headlights are about $1,400 just for the parts; ya, warranty is worth it for my peace of mind.

Granger Ford Extended Warranty for the win.

A quick look for your 2022 EB XL appears around $2,015 for a 7 year, 125,000 mile extended warranty with a $100 deductible.
That's a winner in my book.
If you sell the Maverick before then, get a pro-rated refund of the remaining time.
I view that cost as better than 1x out of pocket repair over your next 89,000 mile difference.

When I bought my 2025 Maverick Lariat Hybrid I purchased an extended warranty. This is the first time in my near 70 years of doing this. Why?
1. Fords recent history of recalls, and reliability record.
2. The Lariat has so much electronics and safety related pieces and the cost to repair them is very high.
3. I hold onto a vehicle for 12-14 years with high mileage typically.
A single major claim pays for the warranty. It's a roll of the dice, for sure, and given the above I thought it might pay off.

Can't argue getting an extended warranty but I don't usually keep a vehicle much past the factory warranty. The longest I ever owned a vehicle was 5 years and shortest was less than 1 year. Everyone wants to buy my old ones, low mileage, garage kept, very clean and never abused. :)

Can't argue getting an extended warranty but I don't usually keep a vehicle much past the factory warranty. The longest I ever owned a vehicle was 5 years and shortest was less than 1 year. Everyone wants to buy my old ones, low mileage, garage kept, very clean and never abused. :)
I kept my 04 f150 for 21 years until it had engine problems my 22 xl 2.0 Maverick is almost 3 years old and I hope to keep it another 10-12 years.

It's insurance. Insurance is NEVER cheap.

I've never bought an extended warranty on anything. If I had bought an extended warranty on every car new car I've owned, added up the cost, subtracted the out of pocket repairs, I would be able buy ANOTHER new car.

I have never bought before, but did this time. Been buying "Ford Certified" for my last 3 vehicles. It includes engine/drivetrain to 100,000 and full coverage to 48,000.
