Over the last several years, my "next" vehicle was cross shopped in several directions. I was undecided. Looked at EVs (only was able to test drive Tesla). Local Ford dealership in previous years were so short of Mavericks I wasn't able to test drive then. Ended up buying a Toyota Crown early year to replace my aging BMW. Still wanted to get a pickup again after not having one since about 2013 when I sold my F150.

So I was really considering an used Frontier or used Tacoma, 2021 models or newer so could have Carplay. But ended up buying the Maverick since it better fit in my garage.

FWIW, my old F-150 is still in use with a fixed engine. That one is now about 28 years old.

I don't cross-shop new vehicle purchases. I do research and know what I need/want before I go to the dealership. There's a wealth of knowledge to be found online for any vehicle with good search skills.

Believe it or not I was shopping for a new Maverick with a new Civic hatch back hybrid, and a Model 3. This is strange but here we are. How about you all?

Coming from a diehard Honda use for the last 30 and more if you count family vehicles growing up. This is my first Ford. Any long term ford drivers here? Comments on longevity? Honda did me good.
I wanted a pickup. The only full size I had was an F150 back in the early 70s. But the smallest was a Mazda (Ford courier) and a few other small pickups including a Ranger. Between gas milage, price and utility the Maverick is the only thing that came out on top. The full size trucks have gotten way too big. I wonder how the Volkswagen pickup would do now if it was available?

Don't try to compare a Ford to a Honda, they are miles apart. I owned many Fords, before there were Honda cars, (Honda motorcycles) had good reviews, so when the gas crisis, back in the 70's was a problem, I bought a Honda Accord in 1976, and a second Accord in 1983 (the first year for a 4 door Accord) both great cars, except for rust problems back in New York. If you are looking for a small truck, cost wise get the Maverick, still great bang for the buck, but it's not Honda quality.

A big source of info regarding user satisfaction/problems are forums like this one. I read forums for about a year or so before deciding to get a new vehicle (Mav).

Toyota Rav4 . probably would have bought one if model I wanted was available . Happy with the Mav so far but concerned about reliability !

Yeah that Woodland edition caught my eye, but probably easier to buy a Bentley with a Discover card.

1. Toyota tacoma - cost more, worse mileage, and uncomfortable back seat, but it had Toyota’s reputation for durability.

2. Toyota RAV4 - ended up wanting the bed for estate sales and home chores.

Chose the 2025 Hybrid Lariat for the comfort, price, and mileage. Loving it.

I don't belong to any auto mfg cult. Or political or religious cult. I've owned many brands.

My needs were an open bed. I don't really tow or I would have kept my 2016 GMC Canyon V6 w/7k tow pkg that was taller than I liked and you had to climb into the bed or keep a croupier's stick to pull things towards you.

I shopped Ridgeline but they are expensive, a little bigger than my old ideal truck, a 2006 GMC Canyon Extended cab 4 cyl.

The Hyundai wasn't enough of a truck and the bed didn't seem utilitarian.

I purchased a new 2022 Mav Lariat EB to drive as I waited for my ordered Mav Lariat hybrid which arrived as an early 2024 model. My first Fords ever. I expected the quirks and quality issues. I am happy with my hybrid, the ride, size and utility of my Mav. I am now dealing with the sleep issue.

Didn't cross shop either since I didn't see anything else that was interesting. I've had 11 pickups in past years, big and small from the Big 3 and Toyota. The Ridgeline is closer to midsize and the Santa Cruz looks more like an SUV with the back chopped off so (to me at least) the Maverick is the only small 'truck' available here in the US. If any of the other makers had a serious contender for my needs I'd have checked them out. Wasn't actively looking but had done a little online research off and on for a month or two when I saw a few new Mavericks at a local dealer. Next day I drove one, liked it, and with no hesitation traded my 2019 RAM Promaster for the Maverick on the spot.

We were all in on a Frontier, we love the push button start, and in the Maverick it was only available in the Lariat package but standard equipment in the Frontier. So we were getting a larger box with more towing capacity for the same money. We took one for an extended test drive and didnt like the heavy steering and huge turning radius, it would not be fun maneuvering in a parking lot. We then took another look at the new Maverick, and discovered push button start was now included in the XLT package. We got the Maverick for $8,000 less than the Frontier we were going to get, plus the dealer gave us $1,000 more for our trade. We will be slashing our fuel bill, that Frontier is a thirsty truck!

Everybody rise to your feet and PRAISE the LORD, our brother has been savED from the iniquitous clutches of the evil ways of Nissan. ... no seriously post 2010 Nissans are money pits... and what do you get for your money? a 50 50 shot that it will drive back to the dealer under it's own power for the next $3000 maintenance.
