With all the recalls, is anyone buying Fords extended warranty? Mine is up in October. I have a Lariat Hybrid.

Good question, with my 22xl 2.0 eb I am at 34.5k miles and 32months. I haven't had any problems and don't normally buy the extended warranty on my trucks but I am still undecided.

Yes, bought out my 3 year lease and bought Premium ESP for peace of mind - and I work at a dealer service department, with parts and labor discounts!! Far too many expensive parts to NOT have warranty!! (my opinion of course)

I bought it right out of the gate since I plan to keep it for a decade or longer. Figured I'd rather pay for any future warranty repairs in today's $$ rather than inflated $$ several years from now.

I have a 22 lariat with 50k miles on it. No issues outside the replacement of the 12v battery for about $200. The sales guy talked me into buying the extended warranty when I bought the car new at the dealer. I went with it because I knew that I would keep the vehicle forever and crank up the miles. Oddly enough, I am slightly regretting my decision as I am not convinced I will ever get an ROI on the warranty. Unknown to me at the time, this wasn't a 'Ford' extended warranty that i purchased when i purchased my vechicle brand new, yet another company warranty that was pitched by Ford. My experience with another car on extended warranty is that the house always wins. Though the insurance might pay for whatever breaks, you have your deductible and adjustments before and still have out of pocket. Even after the repairs in my other car, three years into the extended warranty, the repairs needed haven't covered the cost of the plan and their were extensive engine repairs needed. The people pricing these warranties are genius and they will make money at your expense. I say pass on the warranty, but save the money you would have paid for the warranty for repairs...and if you never end up needing that money, beers on you bro.

Tons of threads and answers on extended warranties. Find the looking glass in the upper right hand corner and type in extended warranties. You'll get ton of threads of people who buy extended warranties and those, like me, who don't.

1. If you buy a brand new vehicle and buy a seven year extended warranty, you are only getting a four year extended warranty. Why? Because the first three years run concurrent with your bumper to bumper warranty.
2. If you buy an extended warranty and finance it with your new truck, you're paying interest and tax on it.
3. That extended warranty may not cover bumper to bumper. It's going to have exclusions on certain parts.
4. You may have to pay a deductible.
5 You probably didn't know that extended warranties the dealer are marked up to 75% over what it costs the dealer. That leaves the finance dept room to negotiate a lower price if you tell them no. They'll keep lowering the price all the way until you sign the contract.

I've had no less than five recalls on my '22 hybrid Lariat. In all cases, Ford repaired the recall for free. In the almost three years I've had my truck, I HAVE NOT needed any warranty work at all.

What is up? Your 3/36k bumper to bumper warranty?

What warranty claims have you made against the bumper to bumper warranty during that time? You still have a 5/60 powertrain and 8/100 on hybrid componentry.

PremiumCare is a nice to have but at a cost of almost $4k for a 8yr/125k for my 2025 I'd rather invest that money and let it grow.

I on the other hand have had several warranty jobs done already. Glad I have the extended warranty, I’m just waiting for the next thing to fail at this point. Without the warranty I would be out over $800 on parts and labour.

Extended warranties on both our Mavericks, and while we are still under the original new vehicle warranties, I'm glad we will be covered when they expire. Already we have replaced two 12 volt batteries and the entire RDU in the all wheel drive ecoboost. I suspect CV axles will start to go pretty soon, too. These are cheaply made and still having all their new model bugs being worked out.

I bought my first extended warranty when I got my Mav. The dealer dangled a carrot and I bit. Since the truck has a bit of a potential of problems, especially with the new AWD, I had decided I would get one. Why from my dealer? They offer lifetime on it. I am hoping for 15 years before it expires, which could make me the winner in this gamble.

Nope, I think they are a money grab, been driving multiple vehicles for the past 50 years, never needed one. Hope my Maverick doesn't make me regret that.

Bought mine online from Granger a few months after picking up the truck... I went with 5 years 100,000 miles. Was considering 4 years, but the 5 was only 60$ something more than 4 years. Normally only keep a vehicle around 4 years. Last 3 vehicles (2 Edges and an Escape) were all "Ford Certified" which extends the warranty to 48 and 100,000 so didn't need it on them. Though did loose a front wheel bearing just after the 48,000 on one of the Edges. The other edge needed a front wheel bearing (opposite side) too, but did catch that just before the 48,000.
