So I picked up my 2025 Maverick last Wednesday and seen over 35 miles on my truck which seemed oddly high. Seeing the first service entry upon getting to the dealership the odometer was at 17 miles. Then it had a second service entry the same day marked as tires and other and no data entered other than that, and the odometer was at 35 miles. So I inquired about this because that’s not a lot of miles but is at the same time. At first my dealer tried flat out claiming it only had 17 when I claimed but after showing proof that it was in fact over 35 he got back to me two hours later with a story that my truck had a check engine light and was idling at very high speed in park. This was the first I heard of any check engine lights coming on or any problems with the truck. No keep in mind it was sub 10 degrees that day. I personally feel if there really was an issue I should have been made aware of this before signing papers for the truck. But also a part of me thinks someone at the dealership took a long joyride in my vehicle and the story was fabricated about the engine issue. Not sure how I should feel about this.
You might have gotten one that was a random vehicle selected for a test drive. Usually there is a sticker stating that fact. Here is a thread on it.

You're looking for a sticker like this.
Sometimes they're Yellow.

Absolutely what they would prefer 👍
Hey. This is gonna sound strange but did you by any chance pick up your Maverick in Vero Beach, FL? I noticed your location is not too far from there and I passed on my order which is just like yours. EG Hybrid Lariat AWD with 4K tow. If so, chances are you have my order.

You’ll be fine, the parts truck wouldn’t start,
It was cold as witches tit outside.
They were unloading and parking new arrivals.

Pick one !

A Ford Employee grabbed the keys and yours was warmed up.

Think of it this way.
On arrival a dealer employee took out a new Maverick to make sure he knew how a few of these new features work,

You got an extra QC check.
I’ve worked at big car dealers before. No one hurt your baby.
They are all good people.

Fagetaboutit !

I think mine had 27 or 34 miles on it, and I got a sticker letting me know it was tested at the factory. I've had some frustrating issues around the interior quality and rattles, but nothing related to the powertrain in 3 years...I wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy the truck.

According to my dealership, in Alabama at least Ford can put up to 5,000 miles on it and still sell it as "new." When I was being loaned service vehicles while waiting on the Explorer camera recall, that was literally the only thing they told me. If I got over 4,000 miles, bring it back to swap out because they cannot sell as new once it has 5,000 miles.

As for the check engine light, who knows. Given you bought it in extremely cold weather when the last time it was started up for an extended period was in Mexico, it could have simply been an glitchy sensor. I keep an OBD2 reader in my truck specifically for that reason. I'm pretty solid on my regular maintenance and so I'd say most of my check engine lights over the years were oxygen sensor glitches that never came back after clearing the code. Only once did a check engine light present a real problem and at the point I already knew because the belt was in 8,240 pieces...

well ask them for a write up of what they did to fix it - in that they spent some time - according to them - fixing the issue and driving it around - that's an expense that likely they billed Ford and had to provide details of it - I don't think they'd spend a couple/few hours troubleshooting and driving it on their own dime.

Truth of the matter is that it wasn't YOURS until you put your $$$ down and signed your name to the paperwork. If you drop your veh off for service and it has xx,xxx.x miles on it and when you pick it up it has xx,xxx.x +50 miles (or whatever) you probably have a right to know what's going on. However, somehow their Mav got 35 miles put on it. Oh well...

Maybe they crashed your truck and the miles are from it being driven to and from the autobody repair shop.

It doesn’t matter where the miles came from. We can all make up a story that fits our criteria. Maybe there is no story behind the miles.

It’s not your truck tI’ll you take delivery so anything before that is moot. And they certainly don’t have to tell you where the miles came from. A week after you take delivery you will have 200 miles on it is what does it matter?

When I Picked up mine from the dealer it had over 100 miles on it. Granted, I knew it was driven up from Denver because the dealer there had what I wanted, a 2024 XLT, BAP, LUX Hybrid in silver. Plus I picked it up a day after ordering it. Not thrilled about the miles but I didn't have to wait a long time like many other people. This was in April so I didn't get trapped by the dreaded recall hold.

My Tremor had 87 miles on it when I picked it up. The owner of the dealership told me how much she liked my Tremor and that she was going to order one for herself. I think I know where the mileage came from. 😬

When I picked up my new mustang it had 89 miles on it. It didn't phase me one bit. I drove her home about 300 miles. I never gave it a second thought about the 89 miles. She has 185000 on her now.

A potential engine problem is where the main concern comes from, I feel that’s important information the dealership should have shared with me. Now matter what now distrust between the dealership and me will always be there.
