So I picked up my 2025 Maverick last Wednesday and seen over 35 miles on my truck which seemed oddly high. Seeing the first service entry upon getting to the dealership the odometer was at 17 miles. Then it had a second service entry the same day marked as tires and other and no data entered other than that, and the odometer was at 35 miles. So I inquired about this because that’s not a lot of miles but is at the same time. At first my dealer tried flat out claiming it only had 17 when I claimed but after showing proof that it was in fact over 35 he got back to me two hours later with a story that my truck had a check engine light and was idling at very high speed in park. This was the first I heard of any check engine lights coming on or any problems with the truck. No keep in mind it was sub 10 degrees that day. I personally feel if there really was an issue I should have been made aware of this before signing papers for the truck. But also a part of me thinks someone at the dealership took a long joyride in my vehicle and the story was fabricated about the engine issue. Not sure how I should feel about this.

Somewhat irritating but I wouldn’t get in too much of a twist. As long as it looks good you have a warranty.
I just feel like if there was really an engine issue I’d want to be informed in case it’s a reoccurring issue or what to look out for, if I didn’t push the issue today then I may have never know of this potentially being an issue. I’d feel like I’m being falsely entitled wanting to know my new vehicle had an engine issue, being more so alerted by this that my truck spent 19 in production, so I’m worried this all could be linked. Warranty or not it’s worrying.

I had 48 mi on my car when it got to the dealership. And I know it wasn't the dealership because they only drove it a couple miles to fill the tank with gas. So somewhere between Mexico and my dealership somebody put about 45 mi on it. At least you had an explanation as to why. I still have no idea why.

It's hard not to worry but you are the one that is s destroying the goodness of today. Worrying about something that may have never happened or that will never happen. Here are a couple examples

  • If a problem is fixable, there is no need to worry: The Dalai Lama said that if a problem can be fixed, there's no need to worry.

    • Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength: Worrying can take away is joy from the present moment.
  • Keep in mind the warranty is 3 yrs or 36000 miles which ever comes first. So if you have documentation showing you took delivery of a vehicle with 100 or let's say 300 miles. That vehicle would be under warranty from 3 yrs or 36300 miles.

  • LOT of times new. Vehicles get dealer traded and miles are put on a vehicle. Those miles do not get subtracted from a customers warranty.
  • So there are far greater things to worry or pray for.
No you do not have a right to know. It is Ford's until its on the lot. At that time is the dealership or the bank that's financing there inventory. Once you sign the dotted line and take ownership, then that's a different story. Like take it in for service and it has 100 additional miles on it. One because now you own it also that 100 miles is subtracted from your warranty

I took delivery of mine last Friday it had 38 miles on it I’m sure it was test driven being it was a special order that the original customer decided not to take

And I kind of wonder if that's what mine was. Maybe after they built it they took it for a little test drive like as a sample vehicle. I mean it's not a big deal it's only 48 mi. And I'm sure that the vehicle would have had probably seven or eight anyway.

I remember watching service staff doing back lot wheelies in a 2 door AWD RAV4 back in late 1980s (I think). I was driving into the dealership unannounced planning to look at that exact vehicle. I kept on driving.

Some of these people are teenagers, even if they're 40+. Playing with your property and laughing at you is part of their crude animalistic existence. That's how it is. Not all of them. Not even most of them. But enough of them.

I never, ever, ever extend trust to anyone at an automotive dealership. I know that sounds harsh, but I have 50+ years of dealership interactions that has granted me plenty of lessons in "scumbaggery".

I'm seeing a lot of dealers excessively "test driving" vehciles they order that sit on the lots but not usually a customers order. Maybe just around where I live but pictures looking like it's been used to take the kids to school multiple times with 89 miles on it or something.

I agree actually a few test drives could be beneficial and catch a issue that might not show up with single digit miles on it at delivery 🤷🏼‍♂️

Sounds like a liability lol.

They'd rather you buy it then bring it in for services.

I bought a new F350 and it had 350 miles on it. They had to get it from Minneapolis to my dealership. But I did know ahead of time they were driving it.
