They're called bug deflectors, not rock deflectors for a reason.

Have you considered upgrading to the acoustic glass windshield that they put in the Lariat? I think the price difference is only about $150. Might be worth it for the better quality and the noise dampening. And it may be in stock too. Definitely worth asking about.Yeah, I'm not taking it to a glass shop this time. I don't want aftermarket windshield on a new vehicle and the forward-facing instrumentation needs dealership alignment.
I think the most annoying thing now is waiting for the backordered OEM glass to be in stock. Could be a while.
Our insurance provider has an additional option for our vehicles which provides additional glass coverage than what the regular policy covers/provides. Haven't used it, but it's a good piece of mind for someone if they're concerned about the high cost of a windshield replacement. This may be more of an issue for vehicles that have optical cameras (I'm looking at you, Subaru) at the top of the windshield that need re-calibration (at a high cost) if the windshield is replaced, but is probably an add-on through most full-service auto insurers.OP: Just file with your insurance and take it to a real glass shop. Most policies are zero-deductible on glass. If yours isn't and you fear you'll have more windshield issues, change you deductible.
This is exactly by question, I wonder if the Sounds creepy glass is better quality. The Soundscreen was on my f150 and never had a problem.Have you considered upgrading to the acoustic glass windshield that they put in the Lariat? I think the price difference is only about $150. Most definitely! But only if you are lucky and the rock would hit the deflector. If it flies above it, which is most of the windshield surface that is unprotected, then it won't.Would those wind / bug deflectors help if this was actually a rock
It doesn't look like a rock chip to me. I have had rock chips and there should be a circular place where it hit. Ford should stand behind that. You can try sending a letter to Ford customer care.Well, I rolled a new 2025 XL off the lot on Monday and 24 hours later while stuck in traffic a big old stress crack pops across the windshield from the bottom.
I roll into the service bay this morning and the tech looks at the windshield for about half a second and tells me I caught a rock, and he can tell because of a flakes along the crack. To me, flakes along a crack on the top surface are a clear marker of low quality glass. In any case, they're putting their foot down and telling me Ford Canada absolutely won't cover it because it failed a "pen test."
So now I've gotta get my insurance involved on a policy that's less than a day old. It sucks being at the corner of a weird triangle between me and the dealership's service and sales department.
To top it off, the glass is backordered and has no ETA. Anyway, hope everyone else's day is going better than mine.

I don't see how a bug deflector can help with anything other than protect the leading edge of your hoodWould those wind / bug deflectors help if this was actually a rock (which I highly doubt it was). I was debating on getting one based on how many people have issues with the maverick glass but I don't know if it would actually help.
ugly too imo won’t get oneI can't imagine one of those deflectors protecting against any kind of rock, unless the rock actually hit the deflector. The smallest rock has hundreds of times the mass of an insect.
Some of the rocks that have caused me issues are the ones that come no where near the deflector.Would those wind / bug deflectors help if this was actually a rock (which I highly doubt it was). All Mavericks have a forward facing camera that needs calibrated with replacement. At least we don't have a bunch of cameras and sensors bonded to the windshield. Some fancier cars these days can be multi-thousand dollar replacements. They have to bond and calibrate all those safety sensors.
