Would those wind / bug deflectors help if this was actually a rock (which I highly doubt it was). I was debating on getting one based on how many people have issues with the maverick glass but I don't know if it would actually help.
Only at high speeds and only tiny tiny rocks, maybe, depends on trajectory,

As I read through this thread it has me thinking. Everyone one here except two have reported rock caused damage to their windshields. Many threads say that low qualityMav windshields are to blame . My observations.

1. A rock hits a windshield at high speed and the owner says the windshield is of low quality. This is a strange observation to blame the windshield and not the rock.

2. Except two people, all the replies have confirmed that their Mav has had windshield damage.

3. I would like to say that most people are not going through the effort to report no rock damages since this is a thread about rock damage. I will report to you that I have 15k miles on my truck and no rock damage.

mine got damaged when a rock came out of nowhere and struck my windshield at eye level( still think it was deliberate) the dash was covered with glass chips and because of the plastic laminated it didn't come through "safelight " techs were so smartass with me I took my business elsewhere and saved the insurance company around $600!

the only trouble is it pops and cracks upon moving the vehicle on a cold morning if the windshield had not been laminated I believe the rock would have came through.
If the windshield was not laminated then it wouldn't be legal for road use. All windshields have to be laminated glass. Side and rear windows have to be tempered glass at the minimum.

"safelight " techs were so smartass with me I took my business elsewhere and saved the insurance company around $600!
Safelite spends a ton on marketing so that they're hopefully at the top of your mind when you need auto glass. But much like yourself, I needed a windshield replacement recently and went to a local auto glass shop for 1/3 the price of Safelite, and it was same day, and they stayed late so I could come by after work. They are a legitimate business but when they saw I was paying literal cash, they offered another 20% off for cash-no-receipt.
