Well, it finally happened! At about 33k miles my 2023 Maverick XL EcoBoost FWD started developing a vibration when accelerating from 50-60mph and sometimes at lower speeds from 20-30mph. I've been watching the Maverick forums and all the different social media groups talk about CV Axle failure, didn't think it would happen to me but here we are! Mind you, my Maverick was bone stock, no lift or lowering kit was installed at the time of failure. I decided to replace them myself, as I'm an automotive technician and truthfully, don't trust the Ford Dealerships in my area to do the work whatsoever. I understand I'm still within the warranty period to cover this repair, but after careful research I was able to get both front OEM CV Axles from Tasca Parts for >$300 total. It was worth the peace of mind to just do them myself instead of having a dealer technician do the repairs, as since I'm a flat rate technician myself, I know some techs out there cut corners and would do anything to beat the warranty time, including messing up someone's vehicle. I've done the maintenance on this truck since day one, and hopefully I don't have to replace the axles again anytime soon, but this truly is unacceptable Ford. I haven't had any major issues with my Maverick outside of random rattles and glitchy infotainment. Maybe Ford will issue a recall or technical service bulletin at some point, and if the Tremor Axles are a direct swap like some people are currently investigating, then that might be the move going forward. At any rate, this is just my observations and experiences on the subject at hand, so if you start getting vibrations and rumbling when accelerating, chances are these cheaply made CV Axles are starting to fail.
