Well, it finally happened! At about 33k miles my 2023 Maverick XL EcoBoost FWD started developing a vibration when accelerating from 50-60mph and sometimes at lower speeds from 20-30mph. I've been watching the Maverick forums and all the different social media groups talk about CV Axle failure, didn't think it would happen to me but here we are! Mind you, my Maverick was bone stock, no lift or lowering kit was installed at the time of failure. I decided to replace them myself, as I'm an automotive technician and truthfully, don't trust the Ford Dealerships in my area to do the work whatsoever. I understand I'm still within the warranty period to cover this repair, but after careful research I was able to get both front OEM CV Axles from Tasca Parts for >$300 total. It was worth the peace of mind to just do them myself instead of having a dealer technician do the repairs, as since I'm a flat rate technician myself, I know some techs out there cut corners and would do anything to beat the warranty time, including messing up someone's vehicle. I've done the maintenance on this truck since day one, and hopefully I don't have to replace the axles again anytime soon, but this truly is unacceptable Ford. I haven't had any major issues with my Maverick outside of random rattles and glitchy infotainment. Maybe Ford will issue a recall or technical service bulletin at some point, and if the Tremor Axles are a direct swap like some people are currently investigating, then that might be the move going forward. At any rate, this is just my observations and experiences on the subject at hand, so if you start getting vibrations and rumbling when accelerating, chances are these cheaply made CV Axles are starting to fail.

Stealership has mine ordered for my 2022 hybrid 31,000 miles but I towed camper for about 12-15K of those miles all over the eastern US, noticed the shimmy in West Virginia mountains.

Curious what is the weight of the trailer you pulled. I have the hybrid as well and thinking about towing a small camp trailer.

Thanks

When the factory ones go again I recommend grabbing one of the aftermarket options that fixed the flaw in Ford's. When mine go again I will be doing that. Which shouldn't be too long from now as the first set went somewhere between 30K and 40K and I am over 60K on the truck.

Last time I scaled it it came in at 1100#, so I'm guessing 1400 lbs, you can see it in the a

What would a reputable mechanic fee be to replace them before they start to go? Would you recommend swapping before the 30k marker?

So, stupid question here...are the CV axles covered under the 5 year, 60,000 mile powertrain warranty? We are only putting around 7500 miles per year on our 2022 Ecoboost XLT, and it's been in service for 24 months now. At this rate, we are going to hit the 3 year, 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty expiration in a year and well shy of what seems to be a failure mark of around 30,000 miles for a lot of owners. Should Ford cover this up until the five year mark?

Yes, they are covered by the powertrain warranty. Ford replaced mine at 37k miles.

I hope I get at least 30k out of mine. At my driving rate that will be 6 years from now. I my or my not make it 6 more years, but if I do, I am sure there will be good quality aftermarket axles to solve the problem.

According to the service information I used, most shops would charge about 3 hours to do both Front Axles. I wouldn't replace them unless they start giving you an issue, which for me, was right at about 33k miles. Some people have had theirs fail before that mark and after that mark so, your results may vary!

It's considered a Powertrain option so it would be covered under the 5 years/60k Miles warranty. Some places will probably try to say they're out of the warranty period after the 3 year/36k Miles warranty expires, but your results may vary!

23 hybrid XLT So my CV axels were replaced at 17,000 now at 29,000 they need replacing again,I took it to the dealer yesterday and said it might be about 2 weeks before the parts come in but I told them I would just keep driving it until the parts come in because I didn’t want a rental, but they did confirm the axels were part of the power train warranty . I do food deliveries so I am pushing it pretty hard but I have never towed anything I don’t even have a hitch on it yet , the only thing I have hauled in it is lumber for building a privacy fence

Real quick question, sorry that it is kind of late. Why do you say your Maverick is bone stock when it is clearly lowered on coilovers and your forum posts are in a lot of aftermarket suspension posts. Not accusing or anything.

So I had CV axle failure right before lowering my Maverick on Coilovers, so the two aren’t related! So far haven’t had any issues since lowering and replacing the axles!
