Why is this article so dismissive of the Hybrid?

So, it's obviously not the best written article. Kinda reads like an AI summary of a CR chart. Nevermind that.

What I'm curious about is the dismissive language around the Hybrid. I've read A LOT about the Maverick - pro reviews, reddit subs and here - and I feel like I could provide a decent accounting of the overall sentiments and common complaints. And none of it points towards "the hybrid model specifically being among the least-reliable vehicles in general for a given model year, as opposed to the robust standard variant."

"Compared to other years, this model year has by far the fewest issues with the vital functions of the car, with Consumer Reports listing only one major complaint, which relates to the transmission taking a while to go up or down a gear. This applies to most model years as well, with almost all mechanical faults easily corrected with replacement components or addressed in official recalls."

^^ That doesn't even sound like a hybrid to me.

Any time see a comparison to the Ford Maverick and the term "in it's class" ... first thought ...
It's pretty much alone ... especially the hybrid.

Anyways .....gonna keep on truckin' until it gets totaled due to a collision with a falling leaf.

I enjoyed reading that article you posted. Lots of information about different Ford engines I knew little about.

They're not talking about the hybrid there.

Did I accidentally link to the wrong article?

*checks*

Oh, you're talking about article underneath the one I linked to. Gotcha. I didn't read that one, sorry.

well, sorta like your name, "Don't Worry About It" :like: alot of articles nowdays are ai generated stuff or alot of the content is from ai from the supposedly journalist. hard to belive some of the stuff published. but in it's defense there were lots of growing pain issues in the MY22, primarily with the hybrids, mostly software, wiring harness and battery issues. If you were on this forum the first year of the trucks introduction, you may have raised your eyebrows quite abit from the videos. Overall ford did a pretty good job resolving the issues in a reasonable time. it's always been a proven powertrain and great choice for many. It doesn't matter what brand, power source, etc something is, someone is going to complain and there's not a auto manufacturer that doesn't have issues. carry on and be happy. just my 2 cents.

Fair enough. My father, who I think it's fair to say has moderately strong anti-Ford opinions, sent it to me this morning and I wanted to make sure there wasn't something I'd missed in my research.

Not even an article, just AI slop.

Article seemed to be written by someone who never had either model, Maverick.

I've been fortunate to have had both an EcoBoost (company truck) and a Hybrid (both 2022)...Gads, sold the Ecoboost after 6 months due to MPG..it was a work truck so gasoline cost was a factor... gas bill was almost twice the cost of the Hybrid. We (4 different drivers) have never gotten below 40 - 43 mpg, except one 4,500 miles Hybrid trip cross country which averaged around (35-38 mpg at 80 mph)...all our employees voted to trade in the EcoBoost...nobody was looking for performance.

Hybrid is not as fast as Eco, but it is really peppy in getting on to an interstate in Sport Mode, but in thick metro traffic EcoBoost was not worth the limited speed advantages. I can't confirm it, but it appears the Hybrid automatically goes in to SPORT MODE when you put the foot to the medal. Hybrid Sport Mode is plenty of power for our needs.

We traded the EcoBoost in for a used Porsche Cayman "S" and it was only $4,000 more than the traded in EcoBoost but GADS, no comparison in performance to the EcoBoost.

So far with 40,000 miles on the Hybrid have had 1 very minor service issue...EcoBoost had 3 repairs in 6 months of ownership. Both Mavericks had a solid history of reliability. Both Mavericks have excellent trade-in value...we only lost $2,000 on EcoBoost trade-in after 6 months, but in my state you lose your Sales Tax Paid.

The drivetrain on the Hybrid is excellent, although the 12V battery sulfation is a continuing issue. There are lots of uninformed people who think that its going to explode like a Tesla, or you're going to need a $12k battery every other year, or its slow for some reason. The truth is that the drive battery will last for 20 years, the two drivetrains are pretty much equal in power, while the Hybrid is a lot smoother and gets almost double the mileage. Unlike the EcoBoost transmission, the eCVT in the Hybrid will probably go a million miles before anything happens to it. However after 5 production years and 2 years after the fix was promised, there is still no fix for the broken charging system yet, but its a problem on both drivetrains.

You're overthinking things. SlashGear is part of a clickbait family hoping you'll accidently click on some ad content.

Go to SlashGear, com website. Check "About". Note, "Today, SlashGear operates under Static Media and reaches over 5 million readers every month................."

Go to Static Media website. Note their "brands".

Google Static Media. Note Wikipedia page:

Static Media Inc., the business name of 7Hops.com Inc.,[1] is an American internet company established in 2012, incorporated in Delaware, and based in Indianapolis. It operates ZergNet, a content recommendation business that promotes paid content and is known for its clickbait headlines.[2][3] Most sites that the company owns use the same website model and design, sometimes dubbed "infinite scroll", whereby content is loaded continuously as the user scrolls down.[4] For example, scrolling down on the homepage loads more articles in perpetuity (until the user reaches the very first article written for the site). Scrolling down on individual articles also does not reach the page footer, instead loading a different, related article, so the user can continue reading content from the site indefinitely without needing to click a new link. This is also called "infinite-content pages" or "endless pages". The title of one of the brands, Looper, refers to this design.

Click bait. It's like every YouTube video has either the main character making a goofy face or a beautiful woman. A click equals money, the accuracy of the material isn't the point. Hell, not even our major network news sights prioritize accuracy anymore.

Interesting. I didn't know that. I've heard the name, certainly, but they're not a source I intentionally check for stuff.
