  1. Rear doors hold water.

It's even in the owners manual (the maintenance part few people read....)
  2. Rear doors hold water.

An old thread - but a common thing people observe after hard rains etc. It's normal to get water in doors. Comes in from the windows (gets past the rubber seal at the base of the window). They're not water tight. Water is supposed to drain from the doors - unless the drain is plugged with...
  3. Ford says 40-45K unfinished vehicles will be awaiting parts through end of Q3

No paywall. Ford Previews Effect of Parts Shortages on Q3 Performance, Reaffirms Full-Year Adjusted EBIT Guidance of $11.5-$12.5B | Business Wire
  4. I Can't Decide On What Model I Want To Order & I'm Going Crazy Over It

(Sigh) Decisions decisions.... You can be assured a couple of things will happen: 1. No matter which way you go you'll have some form of Buyers Regret. Totally natural. 2. Once you get whatever you picked, and a little time passes, the BR will fade.
  5. Maverick vs 2022 Toyota Tundra sr

Hard (impossible?) to compare a Tundra to a Maverick, even if they approach cost parity. A comment I've always heard from Tundra owners - a Tundra is powerful and can pass almost anything on the road - except a gas station....
  6. Walnut blasting ecoboost. Yay or nay, how often?

^This this this. Point of clarification - OCI is oil change interval not oil corrosion inhibitor. Gotta know your TLA's (3-letter acronyms...). Won't get into catch can debate, either do it or don't, you're call. Personally, the science/tech arguments in favor of adding them I buy into, but...
  7. New Maverick Recall: 2.5 Hybrid Engine Fire Hazard [Updated w/ Safety Recall Notice to Dealers]

Some great detective work there BillR. The water surrounding this NHTSA Recall 22V484 is so muddy now it will take something a lot more definitive coming from Ford to clear the water. I won't hold my breath - the US is the most litigious country on earth and you know the Ford legal group is...
  8. Radiator in heat, concern?

A valid question. Especially as you live in Houston/plan offroading in S.Tex. I think you’ll have to wait until the 2023 Build-and-Price is live to see if there are any specifics in print (one or more months from now?). If I had to guess, wrt radiator/cooling fan, the Tremor will likely be...
  9. All terrain A/T vs. all season A/S tires

A/T pro - just about any situation where increased traction is helpful - mud, etc. You can still get yourself stuck in mud even with A/T's and AWD or A/T's and FWD (I see you're waiting on your Hybrid Mav) but A/T's will give you some degree of more grunt than all-seasons. A/T con - noise. Some...
  10. Is it time to rein in dealers unfair sales practices?

Don't agree with the points you try and make. "trying to stay financially afloat" - record profits for them in 2021 and 2022 so far compared to prior years, web search 'auto dealership profits' for numerous articles (WSJ, Forbes, NADA, Cox Automotive, etc). They are selling fewer vehicle and...
  11. Has anybody here owned an EcoBoost engine for +- 100,000 miles?

Probably quite a few examples out there. Here's a thread on a 465k mile 2.7L EB in an F150: 465,000 Mile 2.7 - Page 46 - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans Guy bought it new June 2016, traded it in Aug.2021 with 465k on it. The plot twist is - he traded it in for a Ram, not...
  12. Maverick Tremor Official Release! – Specs, Pics, Videos. Priced @ $2,995

Wonder if Autoblog is correct on towing spec for the Tremor: "All these off-road upgrades do result in slightly reduced payload and towing capacity. The standard EcoBoost-powered Maverick has a payload of 1,500 pounds and a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds, though it can be increased to 4,000...
  13. Maverick vs F-150

I'm in almost exactly the same situation (except my '18 2.7l EB F150 is a 2wd extended cab with tow package and a 6.5 ft bed). I didn't trip a Mav hybrid order trigger last year because of concerns on actual wait-time for delivery (and think I made the right choice based on the wait times I see...
  14. How much max net load can you carry with the Hybrid Mav

It’s simple. Take a look at 2 things: 2022 Ford Towing Guide, page 47 for some definitions. https://www.fleet.ford.com/content/dam/aem_fleet/en_us/fleet/towing-guides/2022_Ford_RVandTrailerTowingGuide_Calculator-Fleet_r7_May17.pdf Your white and yellow doorjamb stickers for your Mavericks’...
  15. New Maverick Recall: 2.5 Hybrid Engine Fire Hazard [Updated w/ Safety Recall Notice to Dealers]

This is one of the strangest recall notices I’ve ever seen. Not the actual recall and action called for (modify shutters/under engine shield to introduce air flow to hinder/prevent under-hood fires) – that’s straight-forward - but that presently the root cause of needing the recall (unspecified...
  16. Answered, thank you! - Help me understand if the Maverick can tow a 1,707 pound trailer.

Happy Memorial Day. If you’re wanting other people’s comments / opinions on if you can “safely” tow what you’ve described, you need to give us a lot more info. Have somebody with an XL hybrid like you desire tell us what their door jamb stickers (yellow and white) say. The yellow gives your...
  17. Boat launching

Slimy concrete boat ramps, all-season tires and FWD only definitely not a good combo for boat launch/recovery. Even changing to more aggressive tire tread may not do the trick. Reasonably graded concrete ramps w/o lots of algae likely fine though. Totally your judgement call.
  18. Rodent cost me $600 plus time

Had this problem with an F150. A couple of small plastic mesh bags filled with mothballs, tucked in a couple of engine bay areas kept them at bay.
  19. Ford fanboys/fangirls what would make you leave Ford

I've kind of mentally already left Ford, although once they're more available (6-24 months from now?) I may trip the trigger on a hybrid Maverick. The last 20-ish years I've been a Ford fan but times change and I have too. Purchased vehicles I remember, kind of/sort of in order of when I bought...
  20. Batteries/Maverick Roasting in Mexico, WHY Ford?

Regards your 12v battery you should be fine. I've bought new 'birthday' trucks before (F150's that were unloved due to either being weirdly optioned or unpopular body styles, namely reg. cab or extended cab) that had sat on the dealer's lot over a year. If the price was right - back when there...
