My Maverick engine failed, so I got rid of it, sold it for roughly sticker price + tax after driving it a year.
I would not buy another Ford. So, Frisco Ford here in North Texas will have a white XL in early June if anyone wants one. I had ordered a new one and it is finally getting built.
I...
Ditto for me. I am so concerned about the longevity of the hybrid mav's. This drivetrain is taken mostly from the Fusion and Escape, so it should not have as many problems as we are seeing.
My engine destroyed itself at 7800 miles. Now there are mystery noises from the engine compartment. CANNOT...
My sentiment exactly. I didn't really want an engine replaced at the dealership.
But I had no choice. My engine failed at 7800 miles, and it was catastrophic failure pistons slapping valves, other ensuing damage. They said mine was due to a bolt coming loose from a phaser, but I don't know for...
Final update: bolt to intake side cam phaser became loose and cam slipped timing, valve to piston contact insued.
Pistons 1, 2, and 3 showed valve contact and all intake valves bent.
Entire engine was replaced.
Dropped cradle from truck, replaced engine and some other components that they...
UPDATE - The dealer called today. Something happened in the motor and a piston contacted a valve. They are replacing the whole engine.
Obviously a manufacturing defect.
Hopefully the new engine will be a better one.
There is no excuse for poor quality. At any price point. My wife has a new Honda HRV, roughly the same price as a Maverick. It doesn't rattle to high hell. It hasn't been in the shop or left us stranded.
So I disagree that we have gotten what we paid for and that I should just suck it up...
This was the truck I wanted. In reality none of my previous vehicles have had a single problem like this in a combined 500k to 600k miles. I have owned a Dodge Ram, Ford Ranger, Honda CRV, Toyota Tacoma, and a Honda Accord l.
I had a 2010 Ranger, it was awesome. I would happily buy one of those.
The truck would start, run for a few seconds, and then shut down. The only stored code was about the cam position sensor, or the sensors circuit.
I received the dreaded "Stop Safely Now" message a few days ago and the truck would not move.
I scanned the truck hoping it might be something simple. At first glance it seemed to be. I had a code for the camshaft position sensor.
So I thought, maybe I just got a bad component, it happens...
