Reading this thread makes me feel like I am not as strange as I once thought.
I got my first ding in my last new vehicle in the first week of owning it. I was sitting in my SUV in the parking lot of a Trader Joe's waiting for my wife. I had just got the SUV to replace my Mustang after it had been t-boned. I was still using a cane to get around. I was looking in my mirror and noticed a mom and daughter loading their car, but their cart started rolling down the lot. It was coming straight for my SUV. I did my best to hobble out of the driver's seat to get to the back to catch it but did not make it in time. The woman was sorry, and I was politely disappointed...
I have always parked as far away as I could from the door as felt was necessary to reduce the odds someone would put a ding in my vehicle. I often have mild anxiety worrying about what spots might be available in a lot when I get there.
Last night I went out for dinner at a staff function and found an open stall on the end of the row right by the front door of the restaurant. It was almost the size of a handicap stall and I felt like I won the lottery!
