Water comes in after opening the rear door after a rain. Apple CarPlay is glitchy. Those are my only real gripes. Small in the grand scheme of things.
I second this. An odd amount of water after it rains where the door opens. CarPlay on my other vehicle works far better, including via Bluetooth.

Only about one month in and overall pretty happy, so these are nit-picky for me in particular.

1. No split rear seat. Especially with a child/car seat. It is difficult to make use of the under seat storage.

2. The storage area between the rear seats and the door just collects dust & dirt, and is hard to clean out because (see reason 1)

3. The driver and front passenger door “bottle holders.” I don’t know what kind of bottles you could actually fit in there, but I had a much smaller vehicle that managed to fit a large Nalgene bottle previously.

4. Rear seat-buckle is not stiff at the base so it is difficult for a child to operate independently.

5. It arrived over a year later than I anticipated and the interest rate on loans went up significantly in that time!

Already covered:

6. water dripping in upon opening door after rain

7. CarPlay and connectivity glitchy

All and all a great option meeting my family’s needs for now. Congrats (OP) and I hope it is smooth sailing from here for you.

Having to change it to Eco or whatever you want if you don't want normal driving mode. Having to hit OK for the seat belt and the ready to drive screen at every startup.
Trivial I know but still annoying.
Agreed on hitting ok! Is there a way to turn that off?

There's no need to "OK" the seat belt screen; it goes off by itself in less than a minute. Still, it apparently bugs a lot of people.

My only real dislike so far is the design of the inside of the body and fenders/wheel wells. This winter, I had wet road salt/mud seeping out around my driver's side tail light because the design of the rear wheel well and body allows the tire to throw road spray up inside the body.

I live in the Northeast and I fear the Maverick will be a rust victim at an early age.

22 lariat lux package AWD,
Door storage or lack of. Nothing fits, everything falls out when opening and closing doors. Lack of electric passenger seat and auto dimming rear view mirror, it’s top of line $35K MSRP it should have these. It’d be nice if it had front parking sensors. to eliminate dash squeaks something awful and poor quality paint job hood has numerous chips.

Having to select my driving mode each time! I like to drive in eco mode...have it default to last driving mode used instead of having to select the driving mode you want each time!!!

It's perfect. Non lux XLT Tremor. Only complaint is they took away my orange interior bits.

This seems like a fair list of complaints. I'm in Quebec so we get brutal winters and salt on the roads. Reading these posts, I'm a little concerned about its long term durability in harsh weather conditions.

At a minimum, it looks like I'll have to research underbody coating solutions for rust prevention.

I've never had this. I'll keep an eye out. Where specifically?

I would say a few inches in from where the door pivots to open. The first time it happened I thought it was maybe just a hard rain or something and then it happened a few more times. When you the door it just drizzles down. Not enough to ruin anything, but it does get a little wet. I’ve just never experienced that on any vehicle.

When I was doing my rustproofing I noticed the big hole that only exists on the driver side. There's a fairly flat shelf like metal piece in there that looks like a rust point. Reaching from the hole that the storage cubby goes in, I sprayed everything in there and hopefully won't have rust issues.

I also added mud flaps to prevent throwing road salt into the body.

My Ecoboost is expected to arrive any day now. While I twiddle my thumbs waiting for the call, tell me what you don't like about the Maverick so I can taper my expectations.

So far, I've heard of:
  • Bad speaker/sound system.
  • Noisy interior cabin
  • Easily scratched interior
Only the driver seat has the 5-way power and massage control, the passenger side is manual. My wife was quick to point that out on a recent road trip.

The only thing I don't like is the blind spot caused by the low mounted rearview mirror, other than that nothing & I have had no issues in 15 months of ownership.
The mirror is SO low!

What did you use for your rust proofing? I think I should really look into doing the same
