What do you like LEAST about the Maverick?

I wanted the Lariat trim for all of the fixins that come with it...same reason I added the luxury package....however; the interior colors are hideous. I will learn to deal with it but I would have MUCH rather had options for the colors and fabrics on the interiors.

My other issue, and this is minor in the grand scheme of things, is that it is a Ford. Grew up in a GM family (grew up near Detroit - everybody in our family was involved in the automotive industry in some way) and getting one of these feels like I'm being a traitor. That being said, though, I was also considering a Toyota Rav4 Hybrid before this as well...

I have a 2019 Ridgeline RTL-E. I wish it had the in-bed trunk like the Ridgeline, but other than that, I think the Maverick has a better designed bed than the Ridgeline. More versatile and tougher too with the spray-in bedliner

The in trunk bed is another thing (plus the tailgate damper) that I like about the SC.
And somehow they managed to put in the trunk...with a spare tire under it!

I helped my daughter move today and the big ticket items left on the list were her washer and dryer. I loaded them up in my '05 Ranger extended cab 4x4 XLT and moved them to where they need to go with no problems. We loaded them in the bed of my truck one in front of the other, dryer first and washer second, and they were transported with the tailgate up. There was enough room leftover we also put her microwave oven and floor-standing dehumidifier between the washer and the tailgate. On the drive to their destination point it occurred to me the bed of the Maverick would not be capable of loading a standard size washer and dryer end-to-end or side-by-side in its bed with the tailgate up. It will with about a foot to spare to the edge of the tailgate down, but thats the only way it could handle such a common size load for any truck. I dont haul a load like that very often, but I do on a semi-regular basis. This is definitely enough to raise my eyebrows and puts bed hauling capacity into some sort of context. Enough to deter me from considering a purchase? I need to think about it.

My current yardtruck is a 2006 Ranger Sport extended cab....so I feel your pain.

But what to do? Even the "midsize" trucks are big. And Ford is going to grow the next gen Ranger. Of course.

I don't understand. Everything has to get BIGGER without an increase in utility. When the new gen GM trucks came out I was really disappointed that it grew again. And of course the bed walls were higher.

WHAT NEW TRUCK WOULD BE COMPLETE WITHOUT HIGHER BEDWALLS???

After all...if you can get something out of the load bed..the truck is no good. Right?

Saw a guy at 7-11 with a clapped out early 90's F150 RC. Great truck. Lots of load. Human size. BTW, he has over 220,000 miles on it!

The Ranger has an aftermarket tailgate damper accessory that can be purchased. I’m sure the Mav will as well.

Y’all are entertaining. You want a cheap truck but want the features of a more expensive truck. Sure there’s some things that would be nice but at the end of the day it’s a $20K-$30K truck. The more available options there are, even if you don’t opt for them, the more complex the manufacturing becomes increasing cost.

That's true. I'd say the one thing I don't like about the Maverick (Or more accurately, the thing I wish it was more of) is that it's a 'Lowercase h' hybrid. It would be nice for it to have have a bigger battery/electric motor, maybe even going all the way to being a plug-in.

But of course, that's easily an extra 2-5 grand added to the price floor of the Maverick, taking away one of its nicer charms and making it far harder to choose over the already available crossover/SUV type hybrids I could go and find on a lot today (Or at least find on a current production list anyway).

Everything is a compromise. Half of buying a new vehicle is getting over it.
