If you can wait and have some warranty left, I advise you to WAIT before getting the update done. I attempted to do an update on a customer's vehicle on last week. His air condition control module was wiped out. After much testing , a hotline engineer advised me to replace it thinking that my scan tool had a hiccup. I installed the new one on Friday. It seems to be wiped out. Hotline tells me that they are working on a solution. This has happened on several vehicles according to my field service engineer. Most have no problem. But a few do. And they are still trying to figure out why. So if you can wait. Or if your vehicle is already out of warranty., do not have it done yet. Another owner mentioned it in another thread. His was wiped out too.

Thank you for your advice and input.

Do you think the AC module is the culprit to the battery drain?
Is that one place to check for extended current drain after the truck is turned off?
Sounds like some modules can take the new coding, and other ones get bricked.

I believe that it is the problem given the fact that Ford is having us to reprogram this module as a solution. It's just that on some occasions something goes wrong during reprogramming. In my case it seemed that the programming went through but something went wrong during the verification. They think it may be something on their server. But at this point they told me that they appreciated my patience and they would get back with me as soon as engineering figured something out

Super appreciate the advice Darryl! Mine was in this morning to have the ACCM updated, along with some outstanding recall software. Out of warranty, so had the service advisor cancel the update just in time.

Cheers.

Thanks, Darryl. Appreciate that.

I use my A/C April - November (plus any time the computer thinks it needs to be on  ). Since I haven't had any battery issues, I think I'll wait!

Since it is a recall it is not tied to warranty.
Local stealer charged my buddy $369 - said it wasn't recall. Battery tested "good" - towed in dead. Whatcha gonna do - I know of 1 unhappy screwed over fomoco customer... 22 out of warranty=4mths. Extended warranty = $1k deduct... no help

It is not a recall. It is a special service message. A special service message or a technical support bulletin simply give us technicians the correct fix. They do not affect the warranty at all. Normal warranty still applies. Ford has general service bulletins special service message, technical support bulletin and field service actions . Field service actions (commonly called recalls) are subdivided as well. Safety, emissions, and compliance do not have a expiration date. But customer satisfaction and warranty extensions do have an expiration date or mileage.

A customer can often have the dealer submit a request for after warranty assistance, Ford will often comply just for the asking. Oft en a customer can make a call himself. And Ford will initiate a call to the dealer. When a vehicle is just out of warranty I have seen for give assistance often.

I will post again when Ford gives me an answer. As of 20 minutes ago they had not responded. This morning the contact informed me that engineering was aware of several vehicles including the one I am working on that had the same issue. For those who are out of warranty, I especially caution to wait because things could get complicated if Ford blames the dealer for the problem . And the dealer is unlikely to eat a $2200 part.

It's not a tumor!

I mean recall...
Total recall?
Aye, my bad I thought it was. I am in no hurry to let Ford dick with my 2025 Lariat that is working just fine.
