Again, Ford engineers are still trying to figure out the issue with the one I attempted to update. They said that it happened to a few others. I think they nay gave been 2024 as well. I suspect they have the problem solved as far as it bricking the Air conditioning control module. But I think they're trying to figure out how to recover this module without having to replace a 2nd $2,200 module/ compressor unit.

Since it is a recall it is not tied to warranty.
SSM 53801 (Special Service Message) is not a recall, so it really is a warranty thing.
I had mine done by a mobile tech in my driveway with no problems.

It is SSM 53801 2022-2025 hybrid Mavs.

I had an appointment to have it done this morning, Tues 6/10/25 but based on this post, I will cancel my service appointment. My Mav always starts, it's just the various interior and exterior lights don't come on. Not tragic. Thanks for the heads up.

Good news to report here: After 20 days, multiple trips from Ford field service engineers, calls to Ford India, a new battery, and a new ACCM - the 24’ Lariat seems to be fixed.

That's great news! Did they say what the fix was? Just curious if the SSM 53801 was updated or if there was a separate SSM for those that encountered your problem during the SSM 53801 update?

It was a code written by the software team in Ford India. The truck no longer has the clicking when turned off. Will report if this is short lived, but it’s definitely different.

I finally heard from Ford. They have fixed the software issue. So I should be able to proceed. However, I WILL need to replace this compressor again. All that work for nothing. I'll let everyone know what happens within a few days. However, have your dealership make CERTAIN that the scan tool has be updated to the absolute latest version. Ford revised the software last week for this particular update in order to ensure the processor is not destroyed.

Is my update OK or should I have it addressed?

My advice is this. If you don't have problem with a battery drain, then just leave it as is. But I don't think that this update can be done over the air considering the steps that we had to take to perform it. I could be wrong though. But again if you don't have a problem, don't worry about bringing it in to get updated. But if you do have a problem, then get the update done. By the way the vehicle I worked on was updated successfully today when I installed new compressor.

Got my truck back on Sept 24th after the completed the ACCM update (per the latest TSB that is trying to fix this) and had the 'remote features disabled message pop up on the phone application the very next day, and every other day after that. As part of the CAMVAP arbitration process you must have attempted to address the problem directly with the manufacturer (in addition to the dealership). So today I spoke with Ford Canada, who initially said that without a proper diagnosis they can't do anything. I explained that for more than a year and a half they have not diagnosed the problem and have only made guesses to try and fix it, to no avail. It was then he reported he would reach out to my dealership to investigate further. They asked what resolve I was seeking, I told them I wanted them to buy back my vehicle, because there is no fix in sight. They told me to stay tuned. I personally think that every person experiencing this issue needs to escalate it directly with Ford Motor Company and file a claim with CAMVAP (For Canada residents) or identify the appropriate process under your state's Lemon Law (https://bbbprograms.org/programs/all-programs/bbb-autoline/lemon-laws-by-state)

I suspect Ford is attempting to avoid these programs by holding people off until their manufacture's warranty expires or you are past the number of Kms to allow for the matter to be arbitrated. I know this should be resolved warranty or not, but not all folks know that and just like others have posted in other threads, they paid out of pocket to try to have it fixed not knowing otherwise

Thanks for the info. I have contacted an attorney and am going to discuss the issue to see if I have some kind of recourse.

Sounds like you're really disappointed with your Maverick. I would sell it and find a vehicle that suits you better.
