Jan 26 2026 New 2022-2025 Maverick - 2.5L Hybrid - Various Electrical Symptoms And/Or No Crank/No Start - Related To 12-Volt Battery Drain
Some 2022-2025 Maverick hybrid vehicles may exhibit a no crank/no start condition due to a 12V battery drain after performing the air conditioning control module (ACCM) software update. Engineering is aware of this symptom and is currently developing a repair which is expected to be available in late Q2 of 2026. If a vehicle comes in for this condition, submit a Global Concern Report (GCR) and monitor Professional Technician System (PTS) for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available. To submit a report, click on the "Submit Global Concern Report (GCR)" link at the upper right of the PTS Vehicle ID screen (VIN required) and fill out the form. Do not use the "Report A Problem" link to submit a report for this condition.
SSM 54519

New SSM, Ford knows it's not fixed and they are working on it AGAIN!!!
So they are still working on the intermittent battery drain side of the issue - battery is so far gone it can't start.

Which is just distracting them from recognizing/working on the lack of battery charging side of a different issue that eventually results in a sulfated battery for some drivers.

And they will just blow past that date AGAIN, like they did in 2025, hoping more and more owners fall out of warranty coverage so they can say "it's your problem now".
Sadly, your probably going to correct, I've read about the issue since the trucks introduction in MY22, so pretty much 5 years now since the MY26 are on the road and they haven't fixed the issue yet, that's a really sad record.

They still have the ACCM update because it fixed many of them. But they are continuing to work on it in order to fix the rest of them. Meanwhile. I recommend EVERYONE who has the problem 1. Hw e the update done. And if it doesn't work, 2. Bring it in so we can submit a Global concern report. The report lets them know the extent of the remaining problem AND it puts YOUR vehicle on record as NOT having the problem solved. If you don't bring it in, they may assume it's fixed. But the report puts Your vehicle on record. That could help if a solution is found after warranty.

Darryl, I watch my 12V on OASIS and see it continue to creep down in the winter, though not as badly as before - I have my last day at my dealership Friday, would you recommend I make a Global concern report, before I leave? I have never had my vehicle leave me stranded but that is why I bought a Noco jump pack, LOL

Apparently Ford is going to release another SSM 54519 a/c module update in Q2 since the 53801 update did not fully correct the issue. Its still not the incorrect 80% charge level fix or the too-short charging time fix that we really need, but its something. Maybe they'll also add these other two at the same time, and update the BCM module as well as the ACCM one.

I don't think that SSM sounds like they know where it's at.
Merely there's still a drain despite the ACCM update.

Sounds like the initial SSM that resulted in the ACCM update - stop wasting time trying to track it down, charge battery, send customer on their way.

And since they are still calling it a drain resulting in no start/dead battery -
I'm predicting right now this upcoming update will do squat for the undercharging issue experienced by many that slowly but surely results in a bad battery.
(not intermittent, not infrequent, not a battery drain resulting in no start until eventually a final day)
Their focus is still only on 1 issue. When many of us have observed a 2nd. And never the 1st.

I agree BUT HOW can we get Ford to KNOW this??

If they see this thread they probably look at it and say a bunch of more ons online THINK they know the cause of dead batteries. So they just dismiss what we say.

I think two year battery life is the best we will get with the mav hybrid even if its an AGM.

The "more ons" are the supposed "engineers" at Ford that don't apparently know what they are doing.

Make the report. As you know, Ford finds a vehicle going into deep sleep in 2 weeks or more is acceptable. So if you think it would go into deep sleep in less than two weeks of sitting, definitely make the report before you leave.

You can also file a report with NHTSA even though it may not be a safety related problem. 70% of warranty or safety repairs come from customer complaints and NHTSA. Only 30% have been found and fixed on there own by Ford.

Ford is working on this issue though. Ford is SPECIFICALLY requesting that we file a report in order to better assess the scope of the problem as well as the attempts at repair. NHTSA is mainly for problems of a safety nature as well as problems the manufacturer are ignoring. Ford isn't ignoring this problem. It's requesting the information in order to solve a difficult problem that's been a thorn in their side.
