So does anyone know what the screen resolution of the Maverick screen is? I have a 2020 Ecosport with sync 3 and the screen resolution is pretty good to me. Then what is the resolution of the camera itself on the Mav? Again My 2020 Ecosport the camera looks quite good to me. I could take a picture of mine with a 12 megapixel camera in reverse and post it here to compare . just wondering if its a step down from current car.

I doubt the screen is 1080p. Maybe 720p? Seems fine for what it is, it's not like we are watching a movie on the thing.

If you are a photographer or a fan of photography then the image sux. If you are like me and can't take a picture in focus then the camera is just fine.

Same as with the audio system - audiophiles dislike it, tone-deaf (again, like me) people don't have an issue.

Well, I'm certainly not tone deaf (nor "actual" deaf from listening to stereo systems cranked up to Warp Factor 10 all the time), and I find the Sync 3 system in my Lariat to be perfectly acceptable. It's not "concert quality" for sure, but it's not annoying or anything.

You know what they say about opinions. Everyone has one, and they usually stink.

My opinion is that the backup camera and the infotainment screen resolution are both totally fine for what they are intended for. Even on a dark and stormy morning, I can tell if I am going to hit something when I am backing up......that is all the data I need to know from my camera. Anything higher resolution is just extra info that I would not complain about having, but doesn't contribute anything extra for my use case.

Of course this is the opinion of a guy who is coming from an early 2010's Kia, where the camera screen was a tiny 2 or 3 inch square in the rear-view mirror that turned on and off randomly. So the Maverick screen and camera are going to be an upgrade no matter what.

I just read yesterday there is a + to zoom in the backup camera
It does have the "+" zoom option, occasionally. I am not sure what triggers the option but it is not always there.

Pro photographer and videographer for 24 years here, the image is fine. Is it great? Not at all, but it's serviceable and does what it needs to do. People just have to nitpick things today.

Agree on the audio as well. While not an audiophile either, it's a big part of my job and the stock set up is just fine. Agian, not great, but does what it needs to do.

Any idea if the Screen is the same in the lariat with Sync 3 as the lower XLT and XL models. Maybe someone with both high and low end models knows this?

I really don't understand why these back up cameras don't have built in infrared for dark conditions. Even the cheapest home security cameras have that feature. I mean I guess I know why, (profit margin, blah blah blah) but its pretty ridiculous.
Probably because you always have backup lights showering your backup area with light when the camera is engaged. I feel like night vision on the camera would make the whole thing too bright and washed out. I know it does on my home security cameras if I turn on the night vision when it is light outside.

I mean, I was going to modify a Sony XDCAM to replace the back-up camera and substitute the panel with an LG OLED... but that was just me. :giggle:

It serves a purpose. For the 20 seconds it is on every drive, it just needs to be visible not broadcast quality.

I don't believe it is the same screen on the Sync3 radio, but I'm not 100% certain...

Well since someone bumped this thread I'll answer this question.

Infrared does not happen magically. It's a light the same as the backup lights, except it's invisible to the human eye.

Cameras can't see in IR and normal spectrum at the same time unless they have multiple sensors which kind of makes it more than one camera. They cut the visible spectrum when using IR.

White backup lights are useful when looking in your mirrors, or turning your head, or when someone behind you needs to know that you're in reverse and probably backing up so they can move out of the way if needed. Infrared light can't do any of that.

You're asking for an additional backup light that serves no use except when viewing through a camera with a filter that can see IR. It's going to be black and white if infrared is in use and unlike adding stronger or additional white lights, it's not feasible to add more infrared.

That's why. 👍

I fully understand the concern. Had a Lexus and a Toyota awhile back. Lexus was in color at night and clear as can be. Toyota was about the same as the maverick.
That said, I can see enough to backup
