Like many of us, waiting for my build date just gives me more time to think about what I want to do to my CG 2.0 XLT AWD loaded except for moonroof and FX4.

I have asked two dealerships for what they would use (to be fair, only a couple of days out from asking). I also talked with Chad today at a Ziebart franchise in Bloomington, MN who quoted $799 for both undercoating and rustproofing applications (yearly update for $60.00 to keep warranty up). There was some disconnect about if the shields (for air flow mpg) would be removed during their process, so I sent the video of underneath a Maverick 2.0 AWD.

For those of us who live in snow country, are you thinking of undercoating/ rustproofing your Maverick and if so, who are you planning to use and why?

thanks to all

I am planning to apply surface shield on the exposed metal surface underneath.

It really depends on how long you intend to keep it.
5 years or less save your money, if forever then spend the cash.
hint: nothing lasts forever no matter what you do…
As for me I’m getting the dealer to undercoat it as it might help lower road noise.
The rust proofing sounds good but it will never get everywhere and it’s a waxy product that is indiscriminately sprayed in cavities which hardly ensures it won’t rust.
Will it hurt, no.
Will it help, arguably.
Will it cost you money, you bet!

Not me. I had Rusty Jones back in the day and have never had anything since. With a lot of the vehicle being aluminum, is there a need for it?

The info I could find about sodium chloride on aluminum was that while aluminum does not rust, it changes the color. That said, if I lived in an area that did not have snow, undercoating/ rustproofing would not be a concern.

No not needed.

Moved to Texas is 1987 and for all our cars/trucks since then not one needed undercoating protection.

1987 Mazda 626 - Had 11 years
1998 Ford Ranger XLT SuperCab - Had 16 years 2 months
2015 Honda Fit EX - Had 7 years 1 month

1994 Ford Taurus - Had 9 years
Cadillac Catera - Had 5 years 11 months
Honda CR-V EX - Have 12 years 11 months and counting

All the above vehicles have had no issues with the body.

We do occasionally visit the midwest in wintertime but we are sure to have a complete car wash done (with underbody hi-pressure spray wash) when needed.

I had the same concern and spoke to the dealer about pricing and he stated that they haven’t offered undercoating in over a dozen years and he wouldn’t recommend it because it could interfere with sensors on the vehicle if not done properly. After discussing it we’re just going to try to be conscious about washing the undercarriage and wheels frequently to prevent rust. Hope this is helpful and you enjoy your truck.

NH Oil Undercoating for me.
I was thinking of doing the NH Oil Undercoating or I may just Fluid Film the s&*t out of it! :)
I'm retired now so I don't have to go anywhere after it snows plus we have 2 AWD Hondas that I would use. I'm confident that a FWD hybrid Maverick will drive fine on plowed roads. :)

Either one is better than nothing if you live in snow country or travel brined roads often.
