My Dad who grew up in Pennsylvania said that when he was younger, him and his Dad (my grandpa) would save the old drained oil from oil changes and spray it under the cars for rust prevention.

Eh, our maverick is almost 4 years old and doesnt have any rust yet and we live in northern michigan.Even if you dont plan on keeping it, rustproofing is a great way to increase resale value in salty areas. Non proofed cars start showing rust within 2-3 years.
My Dad also grew up in PA and did the same thing with the used oil on the old 73 Mercury He had!! It was messy but the undercarriage held up great IIRC it had 180,000 miles when he junked it!! But He sold the 302 out of it to My brothers BIL!!My Dad who grew up in Pennsylvania said that when he was younger, him and his Dad (my grandpa) would save the old drained oil from oil changes and spray it under the cars for rust prevention.
So, your Maverick is a 2022? Post a picture of it in 10 years so we can see what it looks like!!Unless you plan on keeping your Maverick 15-20 years i wouldn't be concerned about rust proofing.
4 years old I could see it not having rust!! See the post above this one!!Eh, our maverick is almost 4 years old and doesnt have any rust yet and we live in northern michigan.
Post pictures of the Ram? The Ram trucks around here are rust buckets way before 17 years old!!The point of my response.....unless you plan on keeping your vehicle 20+ years, rustproofing is a waste of money. I.m.o. i have a 17 year old ram , never rustproofed and the body and frame are fine since i bought new in northern michigan. Most only keep their vehicles 5 years or less.

They must not use as much salt as here in Northeast, Ohio!!Will do. I bought it new, never rust proofed, i wash it once a year and wax once a year with paste wax. Never any repaint or repair for rust.

If someone is experimental and desperate enough to preserve this thing maybe consider taking out all the interior. Bedline the inside and put all the interior back. Bedline the entire outer body. Bedline between all doors. Seal off any nook and cranny. Bedline under it and of course don't forget to line the bed.Oh they use alot of salt here! Lets hope our maverick looks this good in 17 years, if it makes it that long!
Who get a new vehicle every 5 years??? I've literally driven every vehicle I've ever owned to failure, i.e. into the dirt. The point of my response.....unless you plan on keeping your vehicle 20+ years, rustproofing is a waste of money. He won't own it in 10 years, he'll sell it to some poor sucker in 5 years. So, your Maverick is a 2022? Post a picture of it in 10 years so we can see what it looks like!!![]()
