Those in their mating years seem to want a F150 or F250 jacked up with a squat, loud and lighted up. These are useless as trucks, driven like NASCAR racers on the back straight at Talledega and usually end up getting flipped over in a ditch.

Ford's target demographic of urban yuppies are in reality putting the least money they can into vehicles (what with $500,000 starter homes and $150,000 of student loan debt) and will take the train, or bus, if possible. Frankly most of them do not know a Phillips head from an air compressor and will call Dad, or cry, rather than go to Home Depot and come back with a hot water heater.

These is no better truck than an older F150. Ever since we've gone super-cab everything the F150 isn't exactly the work truck it once was. Aside from towing, the difference in what an F150 can do and what a Maverick can do is minimal. I was waiting for the perfect Ranger replacement and just love the Maverick.

Thanks for finding that, Glen. It's not exactly scientific, but it shows only 31% of the people polled were under 40. Ford missed the demographic by a mile and doubled down with the redesign of the front end and elimination of the physical knobs. I think it was supposed to appeal to the younger generations. Maybe it does, but the older folks aren't such big fans, it seems to me. Farley needs to become a MTC member. I bet he could learn a few things. 😬
Most likely do to Ford listening to owners complaining about sync 3 and a small screen. At least that's my take on it. Not sure what the refresh on the front was for. Still trying to figure that one out.

As a gen Z, I can say people my age are having other priorities such as just affording rent, so a new car, even financed with zero down isn't on people's list of needs. If they are looking it's generally something in the low 20k mark like most budget friendly sedans, or the complete opposite side of the spectrum with a 80k German performance car. Nearly everyone I know owns 30 year old jeeps or VWs under $5k.

I work in automotive, and am around classics daily but new cars regularly enough and seeing a Hybrid small pickup, coming previously from an s10, was exactly what I was wanting. When I was 15 I had a 66 c20 as a project and had dreamt of converting it to a hybrid by somehow installing an electric motor after the driveshaft to have a selectable ev mode. nothing came of that but seeing something close enough put into production, I fell in love.

I don't own it anymore, but hopefully my 25 order will be built in the next couple months. Currently getting 10mpg in my other car which costs add up fast

I hope you get your new Maverick soon as well. I'm sure you are missing it and not just because your other vehicle is getting 10 mpg. Of course with gas prices going up, it definitely is something to consider.

I bought a 2024 for the small screen. Did NOT want the 2025 dashboard.
That maybe true for you but again many complaining about sync 3 and small infotainment screen caused the change.

Similar to other upgrades push button start on XLT trim, trailer hitch assist, backup assist etc.

Happy to read you were able to find what you wanted.

I'm old enough to know better but to young to care. I just love my Maverick and I think it is a tragedy to even consider it for a certain age group. IMO it fills a niche for many and thus the popularity.

I'm an 18 year old capital venturist.

I think they hit the demographic without realizing it would happen. Many buyers because they can't afford a full size truck. Many are buying that have full size trucks and are looking for a low mpg suv or electric but don't really want to drive a car. This is an SUV in a really good truck skin, a curiosity It is no longer the cheap little trucklett. Once Ford found high demand they jacked up the price and added more options.
We will never see the day of a cheep reliable everyday vehicle in the US. This does serve a great purpose but I still love my full size.
Haha, I went the other way with it. I've had hatchbacks since 2001. 2001 Focus, 2002 SVT Focus, 2006 Caliber, 2012 Focus, 2016 Focus ST, and 2019 Veloster N. Told my wife the Maverick was the new Focus without the hatchback.

The Maverick sync system is leaps and bounds better than my 2022 Bronco.

41 here. Live in Florida and lost my fun vehicle in the last hurricane. Paid cash for my 24 Tremor to be a stand in until I could get what I really wanted. Maverick fits in my garage, which a full size truck won’t. Lately, decided to keep the Maverick and get a 911 as a second fun car this summer.

I'm in my mid 30s and the Maverick fits most of my needs quite well and at a pricepoint that works with my budget. It's small, sips fuel, and my Lariat has the upgrades that don't make it feel like a penalty box to drive. I need the ability transport a few people or my large dog around which the 4 door cab is great for and space to haul things for my hobbies which the bed does mostly well. If the future Maverick Van has the same ride height, Hybrid AWD option, and non-spartan interior, I might find it to be a slightly better fit for my lifestyle but for now, the bed suffices and does have its perks.

I will say, if you are looking for the younger crowd, the Maverick subreddit is probably the better place as forums tend to feel a bit outdated to those of use who grew up in the digital age. That said, I do really appreciate the technical information that can be found here, as well as the better categorization of topics so this is where I choose to hang out. There is also slightly less of an onslaught of "Got Mine" posts clogging up the feed which makes it easier to find topics I want to read and talk about. 😂

And as people demand MORE technology they will complain about the rising cost and break down of the technology. I'm not sure how I ever managed to drive my 63 Fairlane without a touchscreen and back up assist, lol.
Technology also increased mpg and allow cleaner air, increased horsepower, and torque on a smaller platform. Not to forget the safety aspect with air bags and the technology in unitize body allowing to take the blunt or reducing the force to the occupants. All those crashes in MTC and many walking away just didn't happen. It came about using the technology that you scoff at.
