I'm a sucker for factory finish over a piece of wood painted black. Have had both for a few vehicles

We tried the wood, if we had to do it over again would recommend trying a black or another color composite material instead of wood. Should hold up better.

If anyone has other advice, lets hear or see it............................

I've always used the wood dividers in my trucks, but for the Mav I've ordered a 4-point net pocket instead. I like that it'll let me toss groceries in the net, but since it's fastened at the 4 rear tie downs (via clips) it'll still allow me to tuck a crap load of stuff between it and the tailgate and stay put. I think it gives me a bit more flexibility, literally and figuratively. I picked one up for around $20 on Amazon. Buddy just got a Santa Cruz, and he's doing the standard wood thing on his, except he's going with composite decking, to last longer.

Im going to use composite plastiwood. Going to wrap it in dark grey indoor/outdoor carpeting to match the bedrug.

I’m thinking of using this when my Mav comes in. Cut to the proper lengths, one board should be enough for four pieces. And weatherproof, too.

I love composite decking - for decks. The issue here is it has two undesirable qualities. It is not stiff at all, will bend very easily. And second it is much heavier than real wood. I’m thinking a stain grade board with a dark stain to match the bed liner. i saw guy at a meetup who had carpeted a board also.

That is a neat idea. I never would have thought of wrapping the boards.

Thought I read something about it not being compatible with the tonneau cover. May sit too high for it to close properly. JAT

I had a “drawer” in the F150 (beater truck) that I trimmed down, sanded, and painted to work with my Maverick. Still need to put on the rubber feet in the front, and pads in the back. Gonna wait for the tonneau cover to arrive before I use it

Looks like it just drops onto the cleats. I recall--but can't find the thread now--where someone had found a Ford Parts/Accessory entry for a crossbar that functioned that way similar to an existing accessory for the F150.

Tonneau came today, along with some other items I got from someone here (tailgate lock and assist, mud flaps), and the drawer is done, set the wheels in the back to rest in the tie downs, and with the rubber feet in front it doesn’t move at all

Whatever floats your boat as it looks like it can snug the stuff nice and tight.

Have some 2 by 6 by 16 feet that soon will be 2 by 6 by 12 foot. Did get the bed extender in July for $295.20 with the 20% off. The plan is to put a 12 foot tarp on the bed and over the extender, when hauling a 1/2 yard of loam home. Was a bit nervous of the 5 foot bucket and the less than 5 foot bed. The reason for wood is concern when buying 80lb bags of cement that the weight on an emergency stop would damage the extender and possibly more.
