Unfortunate that Ford and their dealers have performed so badly that people are walking away from the brand as well as the vehicles.

And it’s not the chip shortages, it seems to be dealer behaviors, Fords antiquated and complex order entry and tracking processes, and the abysmal customer communications.

Interesting to note it’s so bad that Jim Farley has essentially given up on trying to fix the problems, instead creating an all new Ford distribution system starting with the EVs. Over time the decrepit systems will wind down with Ford Blue whilst new systems are created in the new division.

Equally interesting is Mary Barra’s decision to stick with all the existing systems over at GM, including the traditional dealer sales model, just tweaking it here and there.

Guess we’ll find out who made the right decision by the end of the decade…

That is needed for COVP/ROVP. That is a second step to submitting the order to verify that it is a real retail order.

That is a new process. A few years ago before COVID and all the shortages, all we did for retail orders was submit a retail order with customer's name. That's all there was to do. That's still all we do in WBDO (where the vehicles are ordered), but more customer info can now be entered, including email. Giving customers email updates on vehicle order status is also new. It stated on just a few specialty vehicles and was recently extended to all vehicles. But the email address has to be added in WBDO for this.

During COVID as inventories started shrinking and more people were ordering, they started encouraging ordering by offering an extra rebate (for most vehicle lines) for ordering and waiting. That was how COVP started, so they could verify the order and generate a rebate specific to that person and that vehicle. Later, as chip and parts shortages got worse, and retail orders increased, they extended the COVP/ROVP process to generate allocation for retail orders. You needed to do this extra step to get the retail order scheduled (because some dealers were putting in fake retail orders in an attempt to get some stock vehicles).

I hope that helps explain how these processes started! Dealers were well-informed of the need to do ROVP/COVP, but this as well as the email address in WBDO are both relatively new additions to the ordering process, and obviously some dealerships have not paid close enough attention to the updated process.
Excellent explanation! Thank you!

I wish you all the best...but the lack of dealer (zero since order date) and FMC abysmal communication...have caused me to move on from my Maverick order. I'm now a remote employee, so MPG is not as important as once was...my best so far is 28MPG at 70MPH, freeway with 308HP!

2022 Colorado LT with custom package, rear locker and tow package.

How much was it? Love the Colorado, but am very unfamiliar with Chevy. Also, I’ve noticed a lot of mid size pickups can match the Maverick Eco in fuel economy. I drove the 2022 Frontier (one of my fave trucks to date), and it blew me away with 26 mpg mixed driving!

I still think I have a better shot at winning the mega millions than getting an ROVP ...
I was right, Ford confirmed no ROVP on my order. I probably should have bought a ticket 🤷‍♂️
How did you get Ford to verify that you had no ROVP?

I understand. It certainly shouldn't be the customer's responsibility to make sure the dealer follows the correct process.

Ford's customer relation's center (i.e. the call or chat center you contact) has never had any info about ROVP/COVP. That has been known on this forum from very early on. They have never been able to verify if COVP has been done or not....hopefully that will be something Ford will address in the future, so customer's can know if COVP was done.
That is not correct. Ford Customer support verified my ROVP in January. You just have to ask if you have an ROVP.

Probably around $35,000 based on the options I can see and the stated selections.
MPG is 18/25 with a 21 Average.

Hello!
It was a dealer order for retail sale. I was cruising facebook marketplace, salesman said, fresh off the truck @ MSRP. I was on vaca in FL when i spotted it. I went to local dealer there, drive one to be sure I liked it still since it had been a few years since I looked at one. Like you, I always liked this model since it came out.
Details
34,900 MSRP - 2022 LT - Convenience Package
Auto Rear Locker
Tow Package
Custom Wheel Package (1k add on ordered by dealer)
I ordered side steps, be here in a week.
I just couldn't wait any longer...I researched this model in detail and bought it. 500, held it for 4 days since I was out of town on vaca.
They sold all 3 that came off the truck in one week.

I get it... and if anyone at Ford gave a shit about the mess they created, this would be a heartbreaking story that those of us left in the dust just have to endure. The whole thing is INSANE... as mentioned by another member above "as far as Ford is concerned " if we don't have a COVP ...or is it ROVP? , Then the order doesn't exist in their eyes... yet I got confirmation for the last nine months off calls to them (not bots) that said yeah the order is fine they can see it clearly in their system. FORD ... so many good acronyms come to mind but may garner to much unwanted attention 🤣😅
Me too. They said my order was good on at least 5 non bot calls. If they dropped my order or if my dealer cancelled it they should have been obligated to send an email stating it’s cancelled just like they sent the email to me saying my order was confirmed. In my eyes an email saying an order is confirmed should mean it was approved and in good standing.

The sorriest thing about this is that it would be fairly easy for Ford to make this situation right!!!

All they would have to do is say "Sorry, we and/or our representative (your dealer) made a mistake. Despite telling you via e-mail, support calls and chats that your order was placed with us, due to no fault of your own, a proper order was not placed in our system for your Maverick. We are sorry this happened and you did not get your 22 Maverick. To make up for this, we will allow you to place a new 23 order for the same price as your original 22 order. In addition, your new 23 order will be given production scheduling priority based upon your original 22 order date."

Ford has all the order records to make this happen. It's the right thing to do. What do you say @Ford Motor Company, @fordvideoguy

Please competition, put Ford out of our misery.
Nah... I bought F at $11.24. It's been really good to me over the past month or so.

Many others have reported that customer support was not able to verify their ROVP. So, maybe it just depends on who you talk to?
