I still amazes me that people order what they really wanted then change to what they don't really want in the hope they get what they didn't want sooner
Ford did encourage customers to switch to Ecoboost. Also, the constraints have been a real pain.

It's funny how those constraints don't exist if you want a $90,000 fully loaded F-150 lightning. And they're okay with a non-gas engine then. Ford never wanted to sell this truck.
This has been going on for 3 years now. It's BS.

I almost ordered the XL but I needed those heated seats. If they just would have had a winter package. I did order the block heater too.
I was inclined to order the XL, too, but I needed cruise control. Then I was able to deduce that they actually built XLTs, while XL orders seem to take a very, very long time.

Well, it seems they have sold a good many!

The 2023 and 2024 XLs have cruise control. But you are correct in that the XL hybrid is the truck they do not want to sell. AKA - the best value

Bill, my friend took delivery of his Lariat Hybrid today, with the $1K private offer. However, the dealership has vowed to take the $2500 PO up with his Regional Rep, to try and plead our case for the extra $1500. I pointed out the use of the word original as justification based on the original MY23 order that was a Hybrid.

Well, it seems they have sold a good many!
They made about 86,000 the first year, a little over 100,000 2023s and it hasn't increased all that much for 2024. I think they went from about 9,000 a month to about 13,000.
They make 10 times as many F150s.
They made 560,000 mustangs in 1965.
So no, they're not making many of these.

It depends on what you are comparing them with. If you compare them with Santa Cruz, they are selling a lot of them. You don't expect the Maverick to be competing with the F-150.

I had thought about this also, since I originally ordered a hybrid. They say since I changed my order it is only the $1,000.

Nobody is forcing you to pay the increase, just walk away from your order and feel better about it.

No thanks! Why let someone else get the truck after waiting over 16 months? And to those that think it's funny, get a life!

And add $1,500 to the hybrid in 2024 not being the standard powertrain anymore.
Only a handful of people got this for the $19,995+1,495 shipping in 2022. They had it at that price for about 5 minutes so they could wax lyrical about a vehicle under $20,000.
My 2024 hybrid (that I ordered in 2022!) that I just got was $25,000 (copilot 360, SIBL & hitch).
yep i was one of that handful, for some reason I also got a 750$ rebate, so even with taxes I walked out of the dealership with a new xl for under 22K. You definitely have to hop on deals like this.

ah, sure they did - they max out that plant all the time with 3 shfits- anywhere from 65K-90K mavs every year. If they didn't really want to sell mavs then they'd never had gone to a 3rd shift.

Ford is making "just enough" Mavericks to keep the overall fleet MPG where they want it, no more. They could have completely dominated the cheap car market with this truck, but wouldn't be making lots of money from that as they'd probably also lose a lot of bigger truck sales.

Interesting theory, but no.

There is a high cost to retool the plants where the Escape and Edge are made. I'm sure there are many reasons why Ford only makes the Maverick and Bronco Sport in Hermasillo, but they've added capacity over the past 2 years. Inventory is higher on the BS than the Maverick, but Ford is currently selling more BS than the Maverick in retail sales. One would expect that the fleet sales of the Maverick are huge.

I'm sure they are trying to increase capacity to make hybrids. The Escape hybrid sells very well, also.
