Since I ordered an XL on 9/20/22, the base price has gone up by $1,620. The shipping charge went up by $100. So in a little over 16 months, the XL has seen a $1,720 increase. Been waiting for 489 days now.
And add $1,500 to the hybrid in 2024 not being the standard powertrain anymore.
Only a handful of people got this for the $19,995+1,495 shipping in 2022. They had it at that price for about 5 minutes so they could wax lyrical about a vehicle under $20,000.
My 2024 hybrid (that I ordered in 2022!) that I just got was $25,000 (copilot 360, SIBL & hitch).

I'm somewhat surprised he's been waiting this long on an ecoboost. Yes, I know it's an XL, but still.
There is a dealership near me that has them on the lot. they have had them coming in for some time. also they aren't charging above sticker.

Yep, the price increases and higher interest rates are pretty much bringing supply and demand back into equilibrium.

The XL hybrid is really the only unicorn that could command a retail premium. And Ford did that on purpose to push people into a higher trim level.

I still amazes me that people order what they really wanted then change to what they don't really want in the hope they get what they didn't want sooner

I almost ordered the XL but I needed those heated seats. If they just would have had a winter package. I did order the block heater too.

That’s how they get ya! Just that one more essential thing they purposely left out to force a move up to the next trim level. Ford has legions of marketeers who figure out what affects you the most and design the trim/package content accordingly.

BTW, I have a Lariat lux, so clearly it worked on me!

Hope you get your vehicle, that's a long time to wait for a truck.

Having ordered via Chapman Ford back in '21, for my '22 hybrid, my optioned XLT cost what a base XL starts at for the '24 model year. Building out a '24 XLT to the same specifications as my '22 now puts you ~$,8000 more than what I paid.

Janky-fun math: An $8,000 increase over 24 months is a 'monthly' increase of $333.33. In reality I have had my '22 hybrid for 19 months, a monthly cost difference of $421.05.

I think Ford completely underestimated what the demand for the truck would be, priced themselves far short and are now catching up.

An entire model year?

I know the 2023 orders that were not fulfilled had to place a new order for a 2024, with a price locked in at 2023 rates. Is he sure the dealer re-ordered his 2022 to 2023 order into a 2024 model? I ordered a 2024 XL eco boost in August 2023 and took delivery 1/11/2024. Not saying this to boast, just feeling something is not right with his order.
No, that's not how it works. Nothing is locked in when you have to order a new model year. It is a brand new order (in Ford's eyes). Ford has offered a model year transition offer that (more or less) makes up from the price increase between model years. But no pricing or finance rates are locked in when you have to reorder.

It was that price for only the very beginning of the 2022 model year, it went up right away.
Hell, they even raised the price between the 2022 and 2023 model years - when you couldn't even order anymore.
Then again for 2023 then being able to say it only went up that amount - ignoring the increase in 2022 when they wern't even accepting orders.
And you say you think they completely underestimated the demand.
I think it has to be one of two things - that they were so incompetent that they did underestimate it - or that is was a purposeful thing - as this is not the truck they want to sell you.
I didn't read anything about their whole marketing team being replaced but I do see them moving Rangers and F150s.

Ouch I just "built" mine on Ford.com, it was almost $10k more than we paid April 2023 (for '22 rollover)...
Yea, and for those that finance interest rates are far higher. Around double in a lot of cases. I financed at 3%. Rates are now hovering around 6%+, with shorter term credit union loans coming in just a little higher than my rate, for top tier credit.

On a typical auto loan structure it comes out to $200 more per month. Total finance charges are about $4,300 more.

I'm not walking away after waiting this long.
We have come too far to turn back now men, we march on!!
