Your dealer thanks you very much for your cancellation!!!

Of course they WONT cancel your order..... they will take delivery and sell it with a MASSIVE markup.
I can't say of course. But if they sell you the truck, they are going to make maybe $400-800 on the deal according to what I've read. If you cancel and they take possession, they could make $5,000 - 10,000. Assuming the markups hold going forward.
If the order never got into COVP/ROVP, there's nothing to be cancelled. The dealer will never receive the truck anyway.

Without a COVP as far as Ford is concerned you never had an order placed. So your dealer is either clueless or shady. As I understand it they were requiring this to prevent dealers from placing retail orders for fake customers.

Your dealer saying they didn't do COVP on any Maverick orders sounds really shaky. Did you talk to salesperson or sales manager?

I'm not sure what the difference is between ROVP and COVP, but I've seen sources say they are the same thing. Maybe just different terminology.

A dealer not doing the COVP...
Ford using the Covp To save our place in line when we re order MY23. Why the hell would Ford only use A COVP to save our place in line. Why would they not come out and say "hey maybe your truck that you ordered on 10/29/21 isn't scheduled or built because your dealer didn't do a covp?!? Basically I'm coming to terms with the fact that I will not have a place in line and I'd be crazy to re order the Maverick.
☆☆The Ford Maverick nightmare continues! I made my weekly call to Ford to check on status. Of course they said same thing as last week. It will be a 2023 MY not 22. No problem, but I started asking questions about how ford was securing our "place in line" they said it was based on COVP. So that said I called my dealer. The only Ford dealer close to me is in Monticello NY... I asked about the covp to which he replied "I didn't do a COVP on any of my Maverick orders" .... my heart sank for the 20th time during this last 9 month roller coaster wait for my truck to be built or scheduled, or ANYTHING! So I explained to him that if I have no COVP, then if I re order on 8/2, I am at the back of the line again and lose my spot. Dealer tried talking his way put of this... asked to ca me back, and we got off the phone. He called back 20 min later stating the covp site has been down since February. But out of all the Maverick orders he put in with no covp, he did get one. (Not buying it) I said cancel the order...I'm done with the roller coaster ride. He asked for a couple days to work on "getting me back into the system" so I'm giving him that. BUT in the meantime, I have hyundai dealer meeting set up after that couple of days... they have them in stock, it's a couple thousand more than the Maverick but at this point my sanity is worth the extra money. No way will I re order a 2023 model and get back in line for another 9, 10, 15 ... ... month wait.

COVP and ROVP are the same thing. Usually called ROVP w/ Maverick, but the exact same process.

COVP/ROVP is what links your order to you. The dealer only needs to submit your first initial and last name to submit a retail order (your zip and email are option). Your full name, address, email, phone # and the dealers order number (as well as body code of the vehicle) are included in COVP/ROVP. That is the info that Ford is using to link incentives to you for ordering a vehicle.

We don't have the details on the process yet, but my current assumption is that we will be linking the new 23 orders we have in w/ the currently accepted ROVPs for 22 Mavericks. I think that there will have to be some connection between the new order and the approved ROVP.

COVP & ROVP have not been down. Ford requires that this process be done within a week of them stopping to take orders on a particular vehicle line. So if the dealer tried to complete ROVPs that they missed months after the deadline, they would not be able to do so.

Dealers were notified numerous times about ROVP. We even got some email summaries stating which orders needed ROVP/needed more info for approval..... I really don't know how any dealership could have missed that.

Yeah, but it doesn't go far.

I got 2 words for you friend, Chevy and Colorado.

They're running a buy one get one free deal this week.

I could care less what they do with the truck...however, their name and reputation must mean nothing to them. We are a small rural town...word of mouth spreads fast

And the consumer gets no notification about the necessary ROVP / COVP so they can follow up with the dealer to make sure everything was done.... I'M BY NO MEANS THE ONLY PERSON WHO GOT LEFT BEHIND BECAUSE OF A MISSED Rovp. Many of us have waited many many months only to find out now that we lost our spot in line and incentives.... why would we re order? If it was just 1 or 2 dealerships that dropped the ball I would agree with you that it is dealers fault, but because so many consumers got left behind by so many different dealerships regarding the ROVP
.. I feel Ford really dropped the ball. FORD: IT'S NOT TO LATE TO DO WHAT'S RIGHT AND MAKE SURE THOSE OF US WHO WAITED FOR OUR SHINEY NEW MAVERICK DON'T LOSE OUR INCENTIVES AND FOR ME, MORE IMPORTANTLY, PLACE IN LINE. KEEP THE INCENTIVE... I REALLY JUST WANT (WANTED) THE TRUCK I ordered and was told throughout the last 9 months with every Ford repbi spoke with ... THAT THE ORDER LOOKED FINE AND I WAS JUST WAITING TO BE SCHEDULED

I understand. It certainly shouldn't be the customer's responsibility to make sure the dealer follows the correct process.

Ford's customer relation's center (i.e. the call or chat center you contact) has never had any info about ROVP/COVP. That has been known on this forum from very early on. They have never been able to verify if COVP has been done or not....hopefully that will be something Ford will address in the future, so customer's can know if COVP was done.

If first initial and last name are all that's needed to place a Maverick order, When do a drivers License number and buyer signature become necessary? I have been assuming that it is going to be upon order entry.

That is needed for COVP/ROVP. That is a second step to submitting the order to verify that it is a real retail order.

That is a new process. A few years ago before COVID and all the shortages, all we did for retail orders was submit a retail order with customer's name. That's all there was to do. That's still all we do in WBDO (where the vehicles are ordered), but more customer info can now be entered, including email. Giving customers email updates on vehicle order status is also new. It stated on just a few specialty vehicles and was recently extended to all vehicles. But the email address has to be added in WBDO for this.

During COVID as inventories started shrinking and more people were ordering, they started encouraging ordering by offering an extra rebate (for most vehicle lines) for ordering and waiting. That was how COVP started, so they could verify the order and generate a rebate specific to that person and that vehicle. Later, as chip and parts shortages got worse, and retail orders increased, they extended the COVP/ROVP process to generate allocation for retail orders. You needed to do this extra step to get the retail order scheduled (because some dealers were putting in fake retail orders in an attempt to get some stock vehicles).

I hope that helps explain how these processes started! Dealers were well-informed of the need to do ROVP/COVP, but this as well as the email address in WBDO are both relatively new additions to the ordering process, and obviously some dealerships have not paid close enough attention to the updated process.

Take comfort knowing that they are laughing at your frustration and misfortune....... because it equated to a huge payday for them!!

I had a convo with the sales manager at my local Ford dealership and he said Ford is now checking the names. If the order name doesn't match the eventual buyer name on more than 20% of Mavericks, he will lose allocations on all models. Basically told me if there's any hesitation, he cancels the Maverick order. Take it with a grain of salt, but he seemed to think Ford is now cracking down on dealerships.

We were just discussing the Hyundai tonight as we logged in and saw that we went from "Order Confirmed"(on Tuesday evening) to the VIN no longer being recognized for our 1st Edition. I was really looking forward to getting a Maverick, but the alternative is looking VERY enticing right now!

Got a Colorado in site...thinking about jumping ship...
At this point, since I work remote from home...the mpg is not so important.

If I jump, I'll see how the Maverick quality weathers others daily use and how it all plays out...

Already jumped ship here! dealer: take my truck, sell it mark it up, do whatever shady shit you want to do with it... (it will all come back around) Ford: Thank you for promising me my order was all fine and dandy and I had nothing to worry about for 9 months of my life... and In the end asking me to re order with no incentives, no place holding in Iine yada yada (because my dealer didnt do an ROVP in time ...I was bitter but I choose to be positive
Now I'm just looking forward to a peaceful buying experience for my first new car, from another manufacturer. Qin signing off from the mav forum. Wish all of you the best who are still waiting on a build. Hope all of you that got a mav this past year are happy with your new ride (s) and that you have the best of luck with them! Good for you. What Ford offers honestly isn’t worth it at this point. I never even ordered, but just hearing the horror stories has made me check into the Hyundai crew. Now I just have to see how quickly they can get the Santa Cruz I want in.

It's a painful choice we all have (in my case, "had" to make) all I can say is it has been like a weight lifted from me. It's relief and a piece of sanity back from the insane 9 months of hell Ford dished out to so many of us. I officially canceled my order yesterday and got my deposit being deposited back into the account it was taken from so long ago. If you go with the Colorado, great choice. Beautiful truck! I looked into them and thought it was real nice... just a bit bigger than what I needed, so the Santa Cruz was the better option for me.. whatever choice you make, ... best of luck to you

There's tons of Santa Cruz on lots.... from what I've seen the turn around with Hyundai isn't bad at all. Definitely not as bad as the Maverick wait time lol. I'm a little biased because ford and fors dealerships have wasted so much of my time, but in my honest opinion, I can't see myself ever buying a ford in my lifetime. This experience was painful.
