As with most things, "Those that DO NOT have a Tailgate Assist" don't like them or don't think you need them....

One could also argue... "Those that bought a Tailgate Assist" have to justify the purchase... It's actually a real thing in psychology.

That was the first mod I did on mine and absolutely love it. You just open the door handle and walk away. Very smooth operation. The best investment for a Maverick.
Agreed 👍
Thank you! Ordered one and floor mats from Rough Country. Still deciding about cover and bed mat. I have a spray in liner, but probably could use a bed mat to move things easier.
👍 Good for you.
Once you have it installed you'll realize the convenience highlighted in my videos above.

It’s a must have if you have kids that ever open the tailgate. I had a Deezee one on my F150 for 5+ years, never had an issue.
I have one ordered and will install after the bed gets liner sprayed.
I used Ford Pass points to order a couple accessories otherwise I would have gotten an Amazon one.

I have noticed that the plate that mounts on the truck bed underneath the tailgate cable can pivot a bit over time. Does anyone know what the proper torque spec for that t50 bolt is?

I keep seeing ads for tailgate assist. Is this recommended for my new Maverick?
Four pages on one item.. :giggle:

I installed a DEEZEE, (found out later, Sold by Ford as their part as well).
Have used it for over three years now.. NO ISSUES...
I LIKE MY TRUCK!!!
If these were available, forty years ago...
I would have Installed them, onto ALL three of my Rangers..

I used a German spec torque - gutentight!

Nope, most are due to poor construction. The Chinese products are all the same, sold under different labels. They all have poor stir-welding that breaks after a while.
OK, I'll bite - stir-welded? I've seen small rod shaped objects friction spun weld, but not sure how that small geometry lends it's self to stir welding?

The first time I tightened it, I noticed it rotating a little. Anything off of perfect will leave room to wiggle. I tried again while pushing hard on the bottom to keep it flat against the side and toward the front until the bolt was fairly tight with the other hand. Then a final two-handed crank and saying "that ain't going anywhere".

I did that initially, probably why it moved lol
Mine hasn't moved yet - but it's early! I got a lower cost one from Amazon for Christmas. It works great and came with some thread locker that I didn't use but, will as soon as the screw starts to loosen.

When the top shockmount nipple breaks off the mounting plate, you'll see that it is obviously stir-welded at the top surface only and is friction-fitted on the backside of the hole. Its very poor construction. The DeeZee one is a bigger nipple and much better welded.

I had no issues with the tailgate but I got the DeeZee one after my buddies and my kids would just let the tailgate drop every time they opened it. One thing is in the cold months it's very slow to drop.

I bought the Rough Country TA off Amazon and an alternate tailgate tiedown because the stock bottle opener on the TA side has to be removed. The alt tiedown I bought: Forccord Tailgate tie-Down Anchor Bed Cleat. But there are plenty of brands for the tiedown on Amazon and Ebay. I like the TA; don't have to worry about handling the gate.
