I can’t see myself ever using left foot for brake
karting teaches it to you. driving a tractor or side by side often is better 2-footed, also.

btw while we're into this line of discussion, the 2025 Maverick has 2 drive modes that ignore the brake-over-accelerator restriction: Lobo and Offroad mode. In these modes you can drive with both feet because it's often advantageous to do so.

Other modes you'll get a throttle cut, and then if you keep pressing both pedals you get a driver's instrument panel notification and limp mode. The main thing this functionality is trying to prevent is something like a floor mat or unsecured cargo inside the vehicle trapping the throttle down.

Even when I had both 2 and 3-pedal cars, if I was driving one with an automatic I'd use my left foot for braking, and still do to this day.
I probably haven't had a stick shift for 35-40 years, but I still unconsciously reach for an imaginary shifter and move it back into 1st gear at stoplights,,,,,,

I once for I was driving and automatic and used my left leg to push the clutch in. Scared the crap 💩 out of myself as I came to a violent stop.

Lots of good input on this situation/incident. What amazes me is that the Ford Bot hasn‘t chimed in with offer to help. LOL

'Unintended' acceleration....
I was thinking the same but he said it happened on the way home too? strange they let him drive it if the brakes were that dodgy..

If I inadvertently have my foot on the brake and hit the accelerator, my Mav will NOT accelerate and I will get a message on the display screen saying so................
Really? I have an ecoboost Maverick as well, and I brake-boost it all the time. It works great. The computer does not shut down the throttle. Apply brakes and throttle until boost builds, release brake and it launches like a rocket. I’ve never noticed if there was a pop up message on the screen, because I’m focusing on the road when I do that. Likewise, when someone is in a panic because they are imminently going to crash, they are probably not checking their dash for pop-up messages either.

lol. Similar thing has happened to me, more than once on my mountain bike. Right hand grip has levers for the shifter and rear brake. Left hand grip is front brake and seat drop post.

For those that don’t know, a seat drop post is a hydraulic shock that lets your seat drop by about a foot, for better mobility in tight quarters, and to get better aerodynamic “tuck” when going downhill at speed.

So I get up to 25 mph and instead of dropping the seat, I accidentally grab a handful of front brake lever and nearly go ass over tea kettle. 😳

it's limited to like 3psi brake torquing so not exactly rocket like performance off the line.

but try driving with two feet with the vehicle is moving.

Question Terry, are you right or left handed? Don’t think it matters but just asking.

Most of my cars are 3 pedal. I use my left foot for braking when needed. Just like I heel toe when needed.

Brings back memories of learning to shift a 48 REO truck while hauling hay with my dad and grandad. 4 speed non synchromesh transmission with a 2 speed Eaton vacuum shift axle. No power steering either. My grandsons are so sheltered ;-)
