Isn't the Manufacturer recommendation to change the break in oil at 10k miles?
"Break-in oil" is a relic of the automotive past. That was then, this is now.

The 'then'( from '55 Chevy OM):
Ford Maverick Stop stressing. Just drive your Maverick and enjoy 😅 1757701275922-ou

The 'now' is what's in your current Mav OM. Think of the oil in a 1 qt. Motorcraft bottle, make that a 55 gal/200 liter drum that's put in the crankcase of your Mav before it arrives at your dealer.

I've been a part of this group since may when I purchased my Maverick. And I'm convinced that some people worry unnecessarily and figure they NEED to find something to stress over. The truth is that Modern vehicles simply don't need us to constantly maintain and baby them. It's not 1990 anymore 😅. Check you oil and coolant level regularly and change it as recommended by Ford or a bit earlier. Keep your tires inflated, inspect brakes when you rotate your tires. You can generally follow the maintenance schedule based on your use as given in the owners guide. Your Maverick will be just fine. If you need to constantly tinker under the hood of your vehicle, buy and old car. As for your maverick Ride and Enjoy
Obviously, I was brought up differently... :p
Your Statement is what MY parents and relation, did to THEIR vehicles on a regular basis.
They never had ALL these problems..
Which would explain, why I am always baffled by the posts on this site...

By the Way...
Yesterday, marked.. 1000 days of Ownership!!
And when I drove, Pups' this morning.
It felt just as good as the first day, I brought him home...

True. I read all the issues here and I've worried about them but the only thing I had was the backup camara recall (no problems with it) that they took care of in my driveway. After not using it for a few weeks I was ready for an electrical glitch but it started like new.
Happy driving folks!

Sounds like you got months of trouble-free use out of them. :)

(I've owned four cars, one of which was stolen after 4 years, and my Maverick in 40 years. I still have all but the stolen one.)
I wish I had that discipline. I literally buy new cars more often than I buy new underwear.

What I stress about is forgetting to check the mileage when I turn my Mav hybrid off...
The truck is still new enough for me that I still get a kick out of that wonderful 40+ (computed) mileage--when I remember to check it...
I DO compute actual mileage when I fill up; sadly, it's a bit less than computed...Still, I'm not fussing at 40+ actual mpg.

Yea , using my Mav for multiple things . hauling gravel , cinder blocks , bricks and picking up bikes , ECT to recycle . latest I used Mav to pull large tree trunk from neighboring yard to cut up for firewood . It was my dead tree that fell on neighbors driveway after I cut it down ( with neighbors permission) . happy with maverick so far . using it mostly for grocery shopping . not sweating the small stuff just using as a truck .

I agree 100%! I mean, there is some truth to fixing small problems before they cascade into larger ones, but people mentioning squeaks and rattles or one-off or random quirks I think are stressing no one but themselves. As a former mechanic and pit crew member, unless something is easily replicated and causes functional or drivability issues, I basically just disregard it.

Case-in-point, I had a first-gen Ford Edge with Sync 2 (I think). I was cruising down the highway one day and the the entire Sync system just locked up. No response from the touchscreen, the capacitive buttons below it, or the right screen in the instrument cluster (which basically displays the same info).

I was only a few exits from where I was going, and the car was running and driving just fine, so I just got to where I was going, parked, turned the car off, then started it back up. Everything functioned normally. Didn't do it again, and I drove it for another 100,000 miles at least.

I also own a Chevy Spark. I rather like it as it's sporty by nature, no, not good acceleration, but if you know how to drive a car, you don't have to slow down too much, but it's certainly not my first compact, economy, minimalist vehicle. The thing is how this is a compact, maybe entry level car but unlike the cars like it from thirty or forty years ago, this has:
  • DOHC
  • 4-valves/cylinder
  • EFI
  • CVT
  • Power brakes, w/ vented discs in front
  • Power rack & pinion steering
  • 15" alloy wheels w/ 55 series tires
  • Power windows
  • 4-speaker stereo w/ satellite radio, Bluetooth, etc.
  • Electronic instrument panel
  • Rear window defogger
  • OnStar
  • Airbags and not just the steering wheel
  • Air conditioning
  • Delay wipers
  • Plastic body panel (handles bumps, no rust)
  • Many passive safety features like crumple zones
  • Third brake light
  • Halogen headlamps
And this car is ten years old. So much of this didn't exist yet or was just high performance or luxury, but it's all here on a little economy car that is styled quite nicely compared to econoboxes of the past, and it hardly needs any of that 12k mile maintenance that old cars needed. I do not take any of this stuff for granted and appreciate all of it.
You just summed up basically why I went from wanting a Maverick XLT Lux or higher to just an XL. Yesterday's top model is basically today's base model, so taking a step back, I realized the XL has everything I need and nothing that I don't. Hell my first F-250 had a single speaker in the dash behind the head unit. The Toyota pickup that I had was basically a go-kart with doors in today's comparison. No power steering, no power windows, no power mirrors, no air conditioning, no radio, no cruise control, no airbags, no nothin'.

1) Complain that their make/model specifically is especially prone to windshield damage.
2) Complain that their make/model specifically has especially weak paint.
Was an auto detailer and yes, even someone with a $250,000 Porsche will complain that the cars have soft paint or thin clearcoat.

Now there have been recalls regarding paint peeling off due to poor prep work at the factory. But other than that, I like to think that people complain about rock chips more because more of a modern car is painted rather than being chromed or molded-in-color plastic. The entire front clip of my '01 F-150 is not painted from the factory. Molded-in-color grill, bumper trim, and valance and the bumper itself is chrome.

Meanwhile my Nissan Frontier has a plastic bumper cover that is painted body color, and a grill that is painted silver. Rock chips galore.

Turn accessory power on and back off and it should redisplay the last trip summary.

Thanks. It's really not a big deal, just a whim. It's only the at-pump calculation that actually counts.

But you don't drive it 12 to 15k miles a year. I remember my Dad saying I was buying a worn out POS in 1976 when I bought a 71 Torino with 60k on it. Turned out he was right.
It probably didn't really ony have 60k on it either, not in those days.

I don't stress over driving my Maverick at all, or if issues will pop up - but there are certainly things you can do to try and ensure the longevity of your maverick.
Yep . Check the oil and coolant regularly . Look underneath and check for leaks and torn stuff when we're already underneath changing the oil. . Inspect brakes when tires are rotated Fix real problems before they get serious. . Change the oil regularly. Maintain per owners manual. Drive like we have common sense. Virtually anything else is probably overkill.
