  2. Love these things -the truck!

Cool! Welcome to the cul--er, club!! I've had my '23 XLT hybrid for a few months now, and am still having a ball! Straight gas or hybrid?
  3. Pleasantly surprised by Mighty Maverick vs. Snowstorm. Snowstorm loses!

Those photos remind me of the commercial (Volvo? Saab?) where the driver carefully brushes heavy snow off his car, then clicks his fob, only to find out that his car was the one behind...
  4. Pleasantly surprised by Mighty Maverick vs. Snowstorm. Snowstorm loses!

Nice reports, especially the FWD folks--I have a FWD '23. Down here in Alabama, snow is considered an emergency and the best course is to stay home
  5. Ford Maverick is MotorTrend 2026 Truck of the Year! 🏆

Good point! Prior to my Mav, I drove an '08 Escape and the Mav's legroom was definitely noticeable.
  6. Ford Maverick is MotorTrend 2026 Truck of the Year! 🏆

It is simply wonderful to be able to stretch out my legs on long drives!
  7. Ford Maverick is MotorTrend 2026 Truck of the Year! 🏆

Yeah, I'm sure the search is on for a tame judge who will issue a stay...
  8. Ford Maverick is MotorTrend 2026 Truck of the Year! 🏆

HOPEFULLY, the relaxation of CAFE standards will slow the usual creeping obesity of vehicle design.
  9. I think I'm becoming a Mavochondriac

And then sometimes it's just fun to fasten my seatbelt before starting, then putting in gear and driving away in silence...
  10. Ford Maverick is MotorTrend 2026 Truck of the Year! 🏆

Nah. Tell it like it is. Some customers won't like it, but most won't mind but don't like to be surprised by 'weird' noises in their new vehicle.
  11. Maverick mileage versus my calculations

WOO-HOO! 41.7mpg at the pump, with the truck calculating 44 since last fillup!!! This was after a trip from Birmingham, AL to Norcross, GA--a NE suburb of Atlanta-- and back, cruising at 60 along relatively flat I-20, then crawling through the Belly of the Beast (Downtown Corridor through...
  12. Maverick mileage versus my calculations

It's not worth the trouble to try to set up some sort of 'scientific' experiment, but it seems that driving habits and conditions also affect the variance. I have seen over 5mpg difference, and as little as 1. Upon reflection, it seems that the spread is greatest at higher speeds and/or...
  13. 2022 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid 3+ Year Owner Review

Yep. Hills can make a difference, too. I just made a trip that included some hilly roads with cruise set at 60, and mileage at fillup was just over 36mpg.
  14. For those that complain about the dial shifter...

Even though I was born in '56 and a child of the '60s, I had never heard of pushbutton transmissions until I read a mention in a novel! The author was British, so I thought he made it up.
  15. 2022 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid 3+ Year Owner Review

I recently had to make a 500 mile trip. Cruising at 70-75, mileage refill was down around 30mpg. Yesterday, I had a 400 mile trip and stayed at 60. Pump mileage was 41.7mpg! Total mileage in my '23 hybrid is just over 22k.
  16. For those that complain about the dial shifter...

I've gotten used to the dial--even the way it automatically shifts to Park, if I forget then turn the truck off... What I really miss about a shift lever is having a place to hang a trash bag. I have to hook it on a corner of the glove box lid. That works, but i'd still prefer just to hang it...
  17. 2022 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid 3+ Year Owner Review

The reference may be to mirrors that somehow auto-adjust to night conditions. I've seen them, but have no idea how they work.
  18. 2022 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid 3+ Year Owner Review

Yeah; learning how my truck responds to different driving conditions has been a bit of a curve. I WANT those 45mpg (calculated at the pump) numbers soooo badly, but physics gonna physic...
  19. 2022 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid 3+ Year Owner Review

Nice overview for comparison to my experience. I have a '23 XLT hybrid with luxury package that I picked up in August with 7400 miles on the meter. I do a fair amount of interstate driving, so I've put about 15k miles in roughly 4 months. For local driving, I'm getting around 40 mpg--I try to...
